Chapter 276 Not To Be Provoked
Charles quickly put out the cigarette in his hand, and a panic that could not be covered appeared between his eyebrows. “Don’t tell me that you really want me to marry her!”
“What’s wrong with that?” Eleanor looked at Charles disapprovingly. “You two grew up together, so you can be considered childhood sweethearts. In addition, with my relationship with you and her, isn’t it a good thing for you two to be closer to each other? Besides, if Rae–Rae really marries into the Page family, you should thank Heaven!”
As she spoke, there was a hint of longing in her eyes.
Charles’s eyebrows twitched.
He and Rachel were not childhood sweethearts.
When he was in school, he had always looked down on Rachel, who was the eldest daughter of the Johnson family, but her surname wasn’t Johnson.
In addition, his aunt Eleanor was quite partial to Rachel at that time. As Katy’s elder brother, to help Katy vent her spleen, he deliberately targeted Rachel in school.
There was a spring outing organized by the school. Coincidentally, he was in the same group as Rachel. He deliberately left her in the wilderness. He wanted to take the opportunity to scare her and destroy her prestige. Unexpectedly, he lost his way halfway and even stepped on a trap that he had set up in advance. And then, he was hung from a tree for half the night. The whole process was too embarrassing for him, so it was not appropriate to mention it.
However, after that incident, Charles knew that Rachel wasn’t someone to be provoked.
From then on, each time he saw Rachel, he would always keep a respectful distance from her.
At this moment, when he heard that his aunt Eleanor was determined to act as a go–between for him and Rachel, a layer of cold sweat involuntarily appeared on his back.
Wasn’t she driving him away in advance instead of cementing the ties
between him and Rachel by marriage?
Just as he was thinking about it, Rachel’s voice sounded at the entrance of the villa. “Eleanor, happy birthday.”
Eleanor immediately went forward, took Rachel’s hand, and led her to the sofa. After Rachel sat down, Eleanor said, “You don’t know how happy I was when hearing that you were coming.”
Rachel smiled.
“Charles, come over quickly.” Eleanor hurriedly called Charles over to
introduce him to Rachel. “Rae–Rae, this is Charles. You two were in the same senior high school. Do you still remember him?”
Upon hearing this, Rachel looked up at Charles with a meaningful smile. “Ah, I have some impression of him.”
She dragged the last syllable, her words revealing a hint of indifference.
For some reason, Charles felt a chill run down his spine when seeing her half–smile.
He pursed his lips stiffly. “Miss Grey, it’s been a long time.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he could not help despising himself in his heart.
What a cliche this opening statement was!
It was as if he had been thinking about her all these years!
Rachel looked at him, and her red lips curled into a bright smile. “Mr. Page, long time no see.”
When Charles saw her like this, he seemed to recall the night when he was hung upside down on the tree. His body trembled violently, and he hurriedly avoided her gaze.
The few of them sat on the sofa and chatted warmly. Halfway through, Rachel received a call from David, so she excused herself and left.

Its ridiculouse to think it is normal to love bomb someone for couple of days and then they are in love. They dont know each other at all. So annoying to read. And whats more, to kiss by force is romantic?? How the hell is that romantic?? Cant understand its logic....
