“Why should I have a drink?” Tom could tell that Rachel was trying to protect David, and he did not want to give in to Rachel. Nevertheless, he took the glass of water from her “Sooner or later, you’ll be the death of me.”

Rachel’s almond-shaped eyes flickered with a sly smile. “It’s not good for health to get angry. I’ll peel an orange for you. Don’t be angry.”

Seeing how quick-witted Rachel was, Tom could not help but think of Sophia. For reasons unknown, his heart started to soften.

He sighed. It was difficult for him to stay angry with Rachel for long.

However, there was still one thing on his mind.

He turned and looked sharply at David. “Mr. Jones, I know you think that you have nothing since you have the token from years ago. What if I disapprove of your relationship?”

“Uncle…” Rachel’s eyes flashed.

Before she could finish, Tom raised his hand to stop her from saying further. He raised his chin slightly at David, indicating for him to speak.

David was sitting on a chair with his legs crossed. He leaned lazily against the back of the chair and placed his hands on his knees. He carried an unwavering gaze that could easily intimidate others, conveying a sense of power and control.

Hearing this, David looked up at Tom impassively.

His cold, piercing look felt like staring into the depths of a well, with a frigid chill that sent shivers down one’s spine. It looked unfathomable and dangerous.

“What’s the reason for your disapproval?”

David suddenly spoke. There was no emotion in his calm tone, but it inexplicably made one stand in attention.

Tom narrowed his eyes and stared at David intently. A hint of imperceptible fear appeared in the depths of his eyes.

Even with his status and influence, Tom still felt a trace of fear and reverence when he came face-to-face with David.
