Betrayal At The Altar
Chapter 561
Rachel did not answer her. Instead, she slowly leaned back in her chair and played with the pen with her fingertips. She said slowly. “Miss Wright, we are just business partners. That’s all.”
The implication was that she was under no obligation to inform them of her thoughts and plans.
Her indifference was slow and intimidating.
Lynn’s pupils constricted. “Sorry.”
“I’ll give you the contract. I won’t force you. After you’ve thought it through, report for employment on Monday.”
“Got it,” Haley and Lynn said in unison.
The two stood up and left with their things.
After they left, Linda walked in from outside. “Ms. Grey, this document needs your signature.”
Rachel reached out and took it. Without a word, she signed her name.
She glanced at Linda and saw her conflicted expression. She could not help but ask, “Are you curious why I kept them?”
Linda nodded. “I don’t understand why you’re helping them.”
“Because they are qualified for this position. If everything goes well, they will replace you.” Rachel slowly put down the pen and handed the contract in front of her to Linda.
Linda’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Then… then what about me?”
Seeing her shocked look, Rachel could not help but smile. “You’re going to be a manager at a subsidiary company.”
“But I… This decision left Linda at a loss.
Rachel knew what she was going to say and interrupted her. “Don’t be in a hurry to deny yourself. You’re far more outstanding than you think to me.”
Linda looked at her, not knowing what to say.
“Don’t look at me like that, or I’ll think you’re going to fall in love with me,” Rachel teased.
When Linda heard the teasing, an unnatural look flashed across her eyes. She slowly lowered her gaze. “Then I’ll get to work now.”
“Okay.”
Rachel casually flipped through the documents in her hand and took out her phone to call Lucas Johnson.
“Ma’am, what can I do for you?” Lucas was already familiar with Rachel’s habit of not calling him for no
reason.
Rachel did not hide anything. “How’s the modification of the Hennessy Venom GT going?”
When Lucas heard that, he snorted without hiding anything. “Rachel Grey, you’re a girl. Can you be more reserved? Besides, aren’t you embarrassed to use my money to make your man happy?”
“A bet is a bet,” Rachel said calmly. “Can’t afford to play?”
Her casual words rendered him speechless.
He didn’t feel sorry for the car.
To be honest, he had countless cars in his garage. One more or less car did not make a difference to him.
However, he just couldn’t bear to see Rachel being so good to David Jones.
Especially when he thought about how David Jones had seduced Rachel without the Johnson family knowing anything, he felt that his treasure had been stolen.
“Coincidentally, I have something to discuss with you.” Lucas subtly changed the topic. “Brenda Duncan’s brother wants you to operate the emergency rescue personally. He was too embarrassed to look for you, so he called me. Do you want to consider it?”
Although Brenda was not the culprit behind the incident at the racecourse.
If she had not insisted on embarrassing Rachel at the horse race, Rachel would not have nearly fallen off the horse, let alone the following events.
When Old Mr. Duncun found out, he immediately locked Brenda up and even personally called Old Mr. Johnson to express his condolences.
Although it was said to be condolences, he was actually seeking peace.
After all, everyone feared the Johnson family’s prestige in Seaxas.
