Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 655

Chapter 655

When David walked in, Rachel was standing in front of the mirror, examining the hickeys on her collarbone.

Hearing the sound at the door, Rachel looked up.

She was wearing pink pajamas, which made her fair skin look flawless and fair, revealing her exquisite collarbone.

Seeing the ambiguous marks on her collarbone, David’s eyes darkened.

When Rachel saw his expression, she sensed trouble brewing and quickly turned to pick up an outfit.

“I’ll pick one for you.” David walked forward and wrapped his arms around her slender waist. His warm chest was pressed tightly against her back.

His current posture reminded Rachel of their crazy indulgence last night.

A faint blush appeared on her fair cheeks.

David Jones picked a flounced shirt for Rachel and paired it with a light-colored silk scarf, just enough to cover the marks on her neck.

“Get changed and come down for breakfast?” David handed her the outfit and kissed her forehead. lightly.

Rachel grunted indifferently.

Seeing that she was not in a good mood, David frowned slightly. “Are you very tired?”

He was afraid that he would hurt her, and was even more afraid of leaving a terrifying impression on her, so he had been restraining himself last night.

Rachel cleared her throat and played it cool. “I’m alright.”

“That means you’re not tired.” David raised an eyebrow slightly, and his eyes flickered with at meaningful smile.

Rachel was speechless.

Knowing that she had been tricked by David, she pushed him away angrily. “Hurry up and get out. I’m going to change.”

David obliged and turned to leave. When he reached the door, he whispered, “I’ve seen every inch of

you.

Rachel grabbed her slippers and threw them at David’s back. “Shut up!”

After breakfast, Rachel returned to the bedroom and packed briefly.

For some reason, she suddenly remembered Lucas saying that she was going to elope with David. Her lips could not help but curl up slightly.

Didn’t it feel like eloping when she was packing her luggage in secret now?

Just as she was thinking about it, Lucas suddenly called.

“Come to the research institute.” Lucas’s voice rang in Rachel’s ears through the phone.

Hearing this, Rachel was slightly stunned. She closed the suitcase. “Has there been any progress?”

“We are currently conducting the second stage of the experiment.” Lucas paused for a moment. His deep and cool voice was mixed with a hint of dryness. “We might need to use you as a test subject in the next stage…”

“Okay”

After hanging up, Rachel left her bedroom and walked towards David’s study.

In the study, Jimmy Shain and Landon Walker were talking to David.

Their conversation was very simple. They wanted David to reconsider taking Rachel to Aureliana.

They were not against Rachel staying by David’s side.

Instead, exposing Rachel’s existence too early would only make the covetous see Rachel as a weakness to manipulate David.

The Jones family was a large family with a long history and intertwined roots.

It was also because of its scale that everyone in the Jones family seemed to be obsessed with the internal strife over the past few years.

Even in the face of familial love, they would not be soft-hearted.

Even though Landon and Jimmy had been by David’s side for many years, their understanding of the Jones family was only the tip of the iceberg.

A family that controlled more than half of the mineral resources in Aureliana was not an ordinary family.

The Johnson family, which was the richest family in Seaxas, was no match to it at all.

“Even if you put Chris to stay by her side, it might not be foolproof,” said Landon.

David frowned slightly and looked up at him. “She has me to rely on.”

In other words, if Chris could not do it, he would protect her personally.

With him around, he would die to keep her safe.

Landon wanted to say something else, but Jimmy stopped him. “The technical department just reported that someone has been secretly investigating Rachel. They’ve been intercepted.”

Without waiting for David to speak, Jimmy continued, “The Elders racked their brains to deal with. you. Now that they’ve discovered the existence of Rachel, they won’t let it go easily.”

“If they’re not afraid of death, let them try,” said David.

His tone was calm and indifferent, and there was a terrifying sense of oppression in his words that made one shudder.

Outside the study, Rachel heard every word of their conversation.

She had thought that her appearance would cause trouble for David, but things seemed to be far worse than she had imagined.

She did not expect David to secretly deploy so many people to protect her.

At this moment, Mrs. Brown walked over. When she saw Rachel standing at the door, she called out without thinking.

Rachel quickly raised her index finger to her lips and gestured for her to keep quiet.
