Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 662

After finishing speaking, Mrs. Smith found that Louis still looked indifferent, so she grabbed his wrist and said, “Son, I know you can’t bear to part with Olivia, and that you can’t forget your relationship with her all these years, but sometimes we have to consider the interest of the Smith family!”

Hearing this, Louis slowly raised his eyelids and looked at her.

Then, he turned around and threw the divorce agreement on the table. “If I sign the divorce agreement, I will have nothing to do with Olivia anymore. If I don’t, I can take over the Cruise Group as the Cruise family’s son-in-law and Olivia’s legal husband.”

He lit a cigarette slowly and took a puff. He held the cigarette between his fingers and asked casually, “If it were you, what would choose?”

you

“I…” Mrs. Smith looked into Louis’s cold and indifferent eyes. Her heart ski pped a beat, and suddenly she couldn’t say what she had wanted to say.

She instantly realized that Louis might not love Olivia that much.

Or rather, after being trained by Harrison all these years, he had long regarded love as an accessory that was dispensable.

Mrs. Smith swallowed her saliva and calmed herself down. She tried her best to control her tone. “You want to take over the Cruise Group, don’t you?”

“It’s not a takeover.” Louis rested his arms on the armrests, and his clean and slender fingers held the cigarette. His indifferent eyes did not move at all. “It’s annexation!”

Although Mrs. Smith did not know much about business, she knew the difference between taking over and annexing.

She took a deep breath. “I won’t interfere in your annexation of the Cruise Group. I only want to know how you will plan to deal with the matters between you and Olivia?”

Mrs. Smith would never allow Olivia to marry into the Smith family!

Previously, Olivia had kept saying how much she loved Louis, but all these years, she had done all sorts of dirty things behind their backs. If not for the fact that Marina supported Olivia, Mrs. Smith would never have agreed to this marriage.

Now the Cruise family had gone bankrupt. If Marina had intervened, Richard would not have been sentenced to life imprisonment.

After what happened to the Cruise family, Marina also seemed unwilling to get involved in such an awful

mess.

Since Marina wouldn’t give any support to the Cruise family, the Smith family naturally had nothing to worry about.

In the past, Mrs. Smith felt that Rachel came from a humble family and was not a match for Louis. But now, she realized that Olivia was actually not even comparable to Rachel.

“I will ask her for a divorce, but not now.” Louis took a puff of his cigarette and slowly exhaled white smoke from his thin lips. “You don’t have to worry about this.”

Mrs. Smith understood the underlying meaning of his words and snorted angrily. “You’ve grown up for independent life. Now, you’re blaming me for being a busybody!”

In terms of harassing people with unreasonable demands, if Mrs. Smith said that she was the second, no one would dare to say that he or she was the first.

Louis frowned a little and stubbed out the cigarette in his hand. “When did I blame you for being nosy? I’m just telling you that you don’t have to worry about these things.”

“Is there any difference?” Mrs. Smith glared at him. “Who am I doing all this for? It’s all for you! I did my best to pave the way for you and plan for your future. However, instead of appreciating my kindness, you even blamed me for being a busybody!”

After Louis heard her words, the impatience on his face became even more obvious. “If you think so, then I have nothing to say.”

With that, he got up and left.

Mrs. Smith chased after him at a steady pace.

Louis walked ahead, and Mrs. Smith followed him. Coincidentally, they bumped into the assistant holding an express parcel.

When the assistant saw Louis and Mrs. Smith, he was in a trance. Then, he said respectfully, “Mr. Smith, and Madam.”

Mrs. Smith replied indifferently. When she saw the parcel in his hand, her eyes narrowed slightly. “What is this?”

“An anonymous express parcel.” The assistant handed the parcel to Louis. “The recipient of the parcel is Mr. Smith.”

Louis frowned slightly and reached out to take the package. “Has the meeting been arranged?”

The assistant nodded. “Yes, it has.”

Louis nodded and walked toward the conference room.

As he walked, he opened the parcel in his hand.

Apart from a CD, there was nothing else of value.

He gestured for his assistant to bring over the laptop and placed the CD into the CD-ROM. While Louis watched the video on the CD, his expression darkened.

At the same time, Lucas was looking at Rachel. “I’m curious. Why did you send the CD containing that video to Louis?”

“Naturally, I want to stir up a conflict between Louis and Olivia,” Rachel said. “Don’t you find it interesting that the two former lovers will turn against each other?”

Back then, Olivia was able to sna tch Louis away from Rachel easily. On one hand, Mrs. Smith was behind the scenes, and on the other hand, Olivia risked her life to protect Louis.

This made Louis very touched.

Even on the day of Louis and Rachel’s wedding, when Louis knew that Olivia was dying due to a massive hemorrhage, he did not hesitate to leave Rachel at the wedding venue, letting Rachel suffer the disdain and ridicule of the people around her.

If Louis knew that Olivia had planned all of this to let Louis return to her side, who knew how Louis would feel?

Rachel picked up the cup in her hand and took a sip. The corners of her mouth curled into a faint smile. “Now the Cruise family has fallen. Olivia has been imprisoned and lost all her backers, and the only person on whom she can rely is Louis. If Louis asks for a divorce at this time, what do you think Olivia will do?”

Upon hearing her words, Lucas raised his eyebrows slightly. “It will probably be a dog-eat-dog situation.” At this moment, Rachel’s phone rang.

When she saw the caller, she put down the cup in her hand and stood up unhurriedly. “I should go now.”
