Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 661

Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 661

“Tell me, where did you go so late at night!” Old Mr. Johnson’s deep voice was filled with intimidation.

After all, he used to be the overlord of the business world when he was young. Even though he was old now, he was still as imposing as before.

Hearing this, Rachel secretly heaved a sigh of relief.

She had thought that her date with David had been exposed.

She calmed her inner panic and walked forward with a smile. “I didn’t go anywhere. I just went out and relaxed.”

“Relaxed?” Old Mr. Johnson snorted angrily. “Do you think I don’t know that you went on a date behind my back?

Rachel pouted and muttered in a low voice, “Why did you still ask me when you already knew?”

“You!” Old Mr. Johnson glared at her while he was anxious for Rachel to improve.

He knew that it was impossible to persuade Rachel to take the initiative to give up this marriage.

Last time, Rachel would rather take a hit from his walking stick than take a step back. This was enough to show her determination.

He took a deep breath and rubbed the watch in his hand with his fingertips. “Are you feeling better recently?”

“Don’t you know my health?” Rachel leaned on his shoulder. “Didn’t you ruthlessly let me and Tom join

the army to keep us fit and healthy? I have a strong body! Don’t worry!”

“I heard from Lucas that you got a bottle of medicine?” Old Mr. Johnson gave her a meaningful look.

Rachel nodded.

She did not hide this matter and she gave a brief account of it.

However, she did not confess that Darcy and Ronnie were old acquaintances.

“Mr. Diekens?” Old Mr. Johnson frowned slightly and looked up at Lucas. “Why haven’t I heard of it before?”

Seeing Old Mr. Johnson’s sharp gaze, Lucas changed his lazy and casual attitude and sat upright. He answered honestly, “This person is elusive, but his business has always been in Seaxas. But during this period of time, he seems to have the intention to develop steadily in Seaxas.

“He doesn’t like to show his face in public, nor does he like to have social engagements. I’ve only met him once.”

That was the first time he met Ronnie at the casino.

Though so much time had passed, Lucas still remembered Ronnie’s delicate and beautiful face.

It was no exaggeration to say that Ronnie wasn’t less beautiful than Rachel.

He was at least as pretty as Rachel.

When Old Mr. Johnson heard this, his lips curled into a faint smile that carried a hint of thought-provoking meaning. “In that case, this Mr. Diekens is a man of great power.”

He stayed at home, but he knew everything about Rachel.

He also sent over an antidote that could help Rachel suppress her illness at the time of onset.

Even for the special medicine that Rachel was taking now, they had spent decades reducing its side

effects.

But Ronnie did all these things effortlessly.

It was really worth thinking about, not only for Old Mr. Johnson, but also for others in the Johnson

family.

Rachel felt that it was necessary to ask Ronnie out for a private chat.
