Yann and the others were investigating this matter and were currently screening the leads one by one.

Rachel’s gaze flickered slightly as she said, “I casually asked a friend.”

David lifted his eyebrows slightly when he heard her explanation. His thin lips curled into a faint smile as he said meaningfully, “You really are impressing me more and more.”

David caressed Rachel’s earlobes with his fingers, rubbing them lightly with his rough fingertips. His deep and magnetic voice slowly drifted into Rachel’s ears. “You’ve done me such a large favor. How can I repay you?”

Rachel’s body could not help but tense up when she felt the man’s long and flexible fingers caress her sensitive ears. She replied, “I don’t need repayment for small favors like that.”

“There’s a saying in Aureliana that says to repay small favors with many times the gratitude.”

“If you really want to thank me, then please protect me well.” Rachel pushed David’s hand away and said, sounding unhappy. “After all, I am new here and I am not familiar with the people and places of Aureliana. It’s not as peaceful here as in Seaxas either.”

She was deliberately teasing David with the words Georgia said earlier.

Rachel didn’t consider herself a magnanimous person. She was very petty and had a strong sense of

revenge.

Rachel smiled when she heard those words.

David held her hand. “There’s a party tonight. Shall we go together?”

Rachel looked at their entwined fingers. She did not respond to David’s question.

She knew that she would have to meet David’s family and friends before she came.

However, both Thomas Bowes and Georgia Walker had made it clear that they were testing and probing her.

Georgia even had an added hostility that Thomas didn’t have.

-She probably felt that Rachel wasn’t good enough for David.

Seeing that Rachel remained silent, David looked up and asked, “Don’t you want to go?”

“I do,” Rachel replied with a faint smile. “After all, they’re your friends.”

If they weren’t David’s friends, Rachel wouldn’t have cared about them.

In the evening, six Rolls-Royces and two limited-edition sports cars drove out of the Peckham Palace.

Georgia raised her chin, looking at him with a frank expression.

“Of course I am.”

As Georgia had said, it wasn’t surprising for any woman to be drawn to a man as outstanding as David. However, since David had chosen Rachel, Landon wouldn’t allow anyone to harm her, not even Georgia.

As her older brother, Landon had said all that needed to be said. The rest was up to Georgia.

-Hopefully, she would make a wise decision.

The lights of the Entertainment Center shone brightly in the night.

Rachel, David, Jimmy, and the Walker siblings walked into the restaurant together.

The observatory restaurant was located on the 32nd floor of the Entertainment Center. Standing by the window, one could overlook the most bustling area of the city.

As the owner of the Entertainment Center, Jimmy was very generous. He had booked the entire restaurant for tonight.

A waiter in uniform walked up respectfully and asked, “Mr. Shain, would you like to place your order now?”

Jimmy glanced at his watch. “Tell the kitchen to start preparation.”

He handed the menu to Rachel. “Rachel, take a look and see if there’s anything you like.”

“I don’t have any dietary restrictions.” Rachel politely declined Jimmy’s offer.

David poured her a glass of warm water and leaned in close to her car as he handed it to her. “No dietary restrictions?” he whispered.
