Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 728

Chapter 728

Harley put down the pen in his hand and looked up at his henchman. standing in front of the table, his eyes flickering. Then he tore off the paper in front of him, crumpled it into a ball, and threw it at his feet. “You said that Marina and Nathan were attacked on the way this morning, right?”

“That’s right.” The henchman did not dare to hide anything from him. and said detailedly, “According to our people, it happened out of the blue, but none of the police officers present were injured. The other party seemed to have deliberately avoided hurting innocent people. Moreover, Nathan only had a small scratch, but Marina almost died.”

Upon hearing this, a thought-provoking expression appeared on Harley’s face. “That’s really a narrow escape.”

His henchman stepped forward and handed Harley a warm towel at the right time. “There’s one more thing I need to tell you.”

“Oh?” Harley’s eyes flashed with interest.

His henchman said, “Last night, there was a car accident at the tunnel on the cliff. An hour ago, I brought some people with me to check, but we couldn’t find any traces. Then, I heard that the car escorting Marina was attacked.”

What he was implying was self-evident.

Harley slowly wiped his hands, his shrewd eyes darkening. “Our young master can’t wait anymore.”

Now there was no need for the Elders to do anything about it. The young master had already exposed himself.

It was a shame for him to do all this only for a woman.

“In my opinion, he’s just way too young and impetuous.” A hint of mockery flashed across the henchman’s eyes. “He didn’t show up at the banquet yesterday and now he’s even taking revenge without restraint. He simply doesn’t take the Elders seriously. At this rate, I’m afraid the Elders will be meaningless in his eyes!”

“If there was no one behind this, would David be so reckless?” Harley asked.

The henchman was stunned. He looked at Harley puzzledly. “Mr. Willis, you mean…”

“If not for the old one backing him up, what right do you think the little. one has to be impudent in front of the Elders?!”

Since he could receive the news, Old Mr. Jones must’ve already known.

However, after such a long time, not only did the Jones family not explain what happened, Old Mr. Jones did not even come forward to give any explanation.

“Yesterday, that old bas tar d publicly punished Marina and Nathan before discussing it with the Elders. He’s challenging the Elders in front of everyone.”

Hearing this, the henchman stopped talking.

Harley walked to the window and looked down at the mountains below. His eyes flickered dangerously.

He knew very well that the appearance of Rachel would definitely cause a commotion in the near future.

She was both David’s Achilles’ heel and a sharp dagger, enough to cut through the peace they had been trying to maintain over the years.

If he broke the current peace between them, it would definitely be… impossible to keep him breathing!

Thinking of this, a terrifying viciousness flashed across Harley Willis’s

eyes.

After breakfast, Rachel and David left the old residence.

The car drove all the way to the Davies family’s residence.

If it wasn’t for the sudden episode yesterday, Rachel wouldn’t have had to make this trip.

Perhaps the questions that had been troubling her had already been answered at this moment.

After a while, the car stopped in front of the Davies family’s house.

The two of them got out of the car and Rachel handed over the diamond that Mr. Davies had given her before.

The guard quickly walked in to report.

When he returned to Rachel, he said respectfully, “Please come in.” Rachel nodded slightly and walked in with David.

Under the guidance of the serv ants, Rachel and David went to a room.

Hearing footsteps coming from the door, Mr. Davies stood up and came out to welcome them.

He first nodded at Rachel, then looked at David and said with respect, “Mr. Jones.”

David nodded.

The three of them sat in front of a table carved from rosewood and Mr. Davies brewed some coffee for them.

The room fell into a solemn silence.

Rachel secretly looked around. Her gaze swept past the gold-embedded screen behind Mr. Davies and paused for a moment.

She lowered her eyes to hide her emotions.

“This coffee was given to me by a close friend back then.” Mr. Davies looked at the coffee that was just right in color and there was a look of reminiscence in his eyes. “I’ve kept it for more than 20 years and I cherished it too much to ever drink it before. Miss Grey, you came just at the right time today. It must be some kind of fate.”

Rachel smiled. “Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Davies.”

“You’re welcome.” Mr. Davies pushed one cup of coffee to Rachel and looked up at her silently.

Rachel took a sip. The texture of the coffee was fresh and mellow, and the taste was elegant with a special charm.

It had a taste that would only come from top-shelf coffee.

“It’s indeed good coffee and the taste is fabulous,” Rachel said as she took out the greeting gift she had prepared. “I prepared this before I came. I wonder if you’ll like it.”

When Mr. Davies saw the coffee Rachel brought, a hint of surprise flashed across his eyes.

“Thank you, Miss Grey.”

After gesturing for the person beside him to keep it and take it away, he took the initiative to speak. “Miss Grey, I heard that you were attacked yesterday evening. Is everything alright with you?”

“Thank you for asking. Everything is fine.” Rachel played with the cup in her hand and said politely, “I didn’t expect that everyone would know about such a trivial matter.”
