Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 753

Chapter 753

Rachel turned around and met the man’s dark eyes. The man had a

satisfied smile on his face.

The man was bare-chested with one hand on the side of his head. The silk blanket slowly slid down and stacked around his waist. The V-line on his waist was faintly discernible. Compared to his usual cold and indifferent self, he looked lazier and more casual now.

He was like a lazy lion. Even though he looked nonchalant at the moment, the powerful aura around him still made people not dare to offend him easily.

He placed his palm on Rachel’s waist and gently rubbed her soft flesh. “Good morning.”

She thought, “Good?

“How am I “good”?”

She pursed her lips and said in a low and hoarse voice, “Morning…”

Rachel’s expression crumbled when she felt that her voice was still hoarse.

She thought, “No, I have to set a rule for David tonight. I can’t let him-

“What are you doing!” Rachel looked at David who had suddenly pressed down on her. Her eyes were filled with vigilance and alertness as she pushed him away in a hurry. “I have to go to the office.”

David looked at her sincerely. “I’ll just hug you for a while.”

Rachel’sensed the change in a certain body part of his. She felt her thighs become sorer and softer. She rejected him firmly, “No, I’m going to be late for work!”

With that, she wrapped herself in the bedsheets and escaped in a hurry.

Half an hour later, Rachel held onto the wall and supported her limp legs as she went to the dining room to eat.

She took small bites of the sandwich and occasionally glanced at David with resentment in her eyes.

She would never believe what he said again!

He had said that it was going to be the last time, but he did it over and over again. He did not know how to control himself at all.

As she was in thought, she noticed from the corner of her eye that Mrs. Brown was about to go upstairs to clean up. She quickly stopped her, but she choked on the food in her mouth and coughed repeatedly.

David hurriedly handed over a cup of warm milk. “Don’t be so anxious.”

After Rachel gulped the milk down, she took a deep breath and said again, “Mrs. Brown, I’ll clean up upstairs.”

Mrs. Brown would probably provide the employees of Sandalwood Hills with new gossip if she saw how messy the room was.

Mrs. Brown looked at her nervous expression and vaguely realized something. There was an ambiguous smile between her eyebrows. “Understood, Miss Grey.”

After quickly finishing her breakfast, Rachel went upstairs to clean the

room.

She held her breath when she saw what was in the trash can.

Previously, she had really underestimated David’s combat strength.

She couldn’t bear to watch!

Rachel blushed and quickly packed up the things in the trash can.

As she walked downstairs, she saw Mrs. Brown coming upstairs with a box. “Miss Grey, is this yours?”

It was the box that Ronnie had given her before.

“Give it to me.” As Rachel took the box, Mrs. Brown took the trash bag from

her hand.

Rachel opened the box in her hand as she walked downstairs.

Inside the box was a piece of diamond.

The diamond was of exceptional quality. It was clear and cut extremely well.

There were many children carved onto the diamond as if to bless her with children and good health.

Rachel curled her lips into a smile. She thought, “Is he treating me as a child?”

She didn’t think too much about it. She just put away her things and prepared to leave.

When they left for the company, David offered to send Rachel over as usual.

However, Rachel mercilessly rejected him.

Looking at the woman’s determined attitude and resolute back figure, David suddenly realized that he seemed to have lost all credibility with her.

Was this considered reaping what one sowed?

There was a helpless smile on his lips as he watched Rachel get into the car and leave.

After Rachel arrived at the company, she continued to work in an organized manner even though her body was tired.

She laid on the sofa and took a short nap during her afternoon break.

She slept until a call from Mary came in.

Rachel frowned slightly. She could not conceal the faint trace of frustration on her face.

She reached out and fumbled around for a long time before finally picking up the phone on the coffee table. She swiped the screen with her fingertip and picked up the call.

“Rae-Rae, look at the news!” Mary’s panicked voice entered Rachel’s ears through the phone receiver.

Rachel gradually came to her senses. She lifted the thin blanket on her body and slowly sat up. “What happened?”

Without waiting for Mary to speak, Linda rushed in with a terrified expression. “Ms. Grey, bad news!”

“What’s wrong?” There was a thin layer of ice gathered in the depths of Rachel’s eyes.

Linda swallowed and suppressed the panic in her heart. She said in a hurry, “The news just reported that Mr. Johnson has been taken away for investigation!”

Hearing this, Rachel’s expression suddenly changed.

Mary, who was on the phone, said, “The news said that your uncle is suspected of corruption and bribery. He’s suspected of operating secret transactions worth hundreds of millions. He’s currently suspended and taken away for investigation.”

“Got it.” After hanging up, Rachel quickly walked to the computer and opened a browser to search for the news.

The Internet was filled with news about Tom Johnson being taken away for investigation.

Tom had been in office for many years. He was an upright person and hated taking sides in wars between factions. The accusations of corruption and bribery against him were definitely fabricated!
