Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 754

Chapter 754

Fifteen minutes later, Linda sent Rachel a message.

Not only did it contain Harold’s basic information, but it also contained information about how he did at school.

Harold’s resume was very simple. He had excellent results in school and had been awarded scholarships repeatedly. His teachers and classmates had always praised him for his performance.

After graduation, he successfully joined a local company in a relevant industry and performed well during his work. He was promoted and became Tom’s right-hand man.

The arrest report clearly stated that Harold had been promoted so frequently because of Tom’s help and that Tom had secretly accepted bribes from Harold.

Rachel’s eyes narrowed slightly, and a clear coldness flickered in them.

She took out her phone and called Lucas. “Can you find out where Harold Durham is?”

“Wait a moment!” Lucas said.

Rachel took a deep breath and turned to look at the scenery outside the window.

Now that Tom’s incident had caused an uproar, it would probably cause quite a stir in Seaxas.

Most importantly, Tom was currently suspended for investigation. There was going to be quite a commotion in the political circle.

After hanging up, she called David. “Let me use Billy.”

Rachel drove quickly and finally arrived at the residential area where her uncle Tom lived.

She felt a depressed atmosphere looming above him as soon as she entered. It looked like he was suffocating.

In the living room, Eleanor was sitting on the sofa. Members of both the Page family and the Johnson family were gathered around her.

Her uncle’s confidant, John, was sitting in an inconspicuous position with a few other people in uniforms.

“Rae-Rae, why are you here?” Eleanor looked a little pale and haggard, but she forced herself to stay awake. She pursed her lips and said, “Look, there are many people at home today. They might not be able to take care of you for the time being. Why don’t I get Lucas to come back and accompany you?”

Rachel did not say anything. She only looked at Eleanor’s red and swollen eyes and frowned imperceptibly.

She walked straight to the sofa and sat down. “John, how is Tom?”

John, who was Tom’s able assistant, was also taken away for investigation the moment the incident happened. However, he was released after he was interrogated and they found nothing suspicious about him.

He had just been released not long ago, and the information he could gather was not comprehensive enough. “The other party claims that the evidence is conclusive. I’m afraid Mr. Johnson is doomed this time…”

Hearing this, Rachel instinctively looked at Eleanor.

Her face turned pale and she gripped the armrest of the sofa tightly. “What about his former colleagues?”

How could no one intercede and plead for Tom for such a huge matter?

“People only care about their safety. How many people would dare to take the risk to vouch for Tom?” Rachel’s cold voice had an unconcealable coldness and mockery.

Hearing this, everyone could not help but reveal a solemn expression.

Currently, the entire department was trembling in fear. They wished they could immediately draw a clear line with Tom. They were afraid that they would be implicated, let alone take the initiative to plead for leniency.

If Tom was convicted of his crime, those who were on good terms with him in the past might also be implicated.

At this moment, Katy sneered. “Pretentious!”

Rachel did not say anything. She glanced at Katy, her gaze sharp as a blade.

“With the Johnson family’s status and influence, Tom would not have to worry about food or clothing for the rest of his life. At the very least, he wouldn’t have to rely on corruption to survive.” Rachel elegantly crossed her legs and placed her hands naturally on the armrests on both sides of the sofa. Every move she made exuded an aura that could not be ignored. “Did they not check up on how powerful the Johnson family was before they began their investigation?”

“Our higher-ups naturally have enough evidence for this investigation. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have caused such a huge commotion on mere suspicion, right?” a person in uniform said.

Rachel looked in the direction of the voice with a probing gaze.

At this moment, John leaned over and whispered into Rachel’s ear, “That is Dylan White. He has some private dealings with Mr. Johnson.”

Hearing this, Rachel’s eyes flashed with understanding. She curled her lips and smiled. “Mr. White, since you have a private relationship with Tom, you must understand and approve of his conduct. Isn’t it too hasty to conclude that before the matter is investigated and the truth is revealed?”

Rachel, being the eldest daughter of the richest family in Seaxas, was not an ordinary rich young lady who only knew how to indulge in pleasure.

Whether it was her speech or her bearing, she exuded an aura that was difficult to ignore.

Dylan narrowed his eyes and sized up Rachel from head to toe.

After thinking for a while, he said calmly, “Miss Grey, although that’s the case, there are often things that are not as simple as what they look like on the surface. Even if we know Mr. Johnson’s character, everything will be in

vain without substantial evidence.

“The most important thing now is not how to help Mr. Johnson absolve himself from the crime, but to find substantial evidence and find out who was behind all of this and what their goal was!”
