Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 787

Chapter 787

“Miss Waller?” Rachel thought.

She instinctively looked up.

The woman sitting on the sofa in the living room slowly got up.

Her back looked a little familiar.

Miriam slowly turned around and looked in the direction of the door. The moment her gaze met Rachel’s, the beautiful smile on her

face froze.

Clearly, Rachel’s appearance had completely exceeded her expectations.

The huge room fell into dead silence. The atmosphere was extremely awkward.

David held Rachel’s hand and walked straight to the living room. “We’re all on the same side. There’s no need to be so formal,”

“Oh, okay.” Miriam suddenly came back to her senses and sat back on the sofa with a shocked expression.

However, her gaze would occasionally fall on David’s hand that was wrapped around Rachel’s waist.

She did not dare to imagine that David actually had a woman by his side.

Moreover, this woman was Lucas’s sister, her future sister-in-law,

Rachel raised her eyebrows. There was a playful flicker in her eyes. “Do you know each other?”

To be honest, not only was Miriam surprised to see her, but she was also quite surprised to see Miriam here.

Moreover, since David addressed Miriam as “on the same side”, they must have quite an extraordinary relationship.

vid wrapped her arms around Rachel’s waist and leaned over to whisper in her ear, “Are you very surprised?”

Rachel nodded.

thought, “Am I not supposed to be surprised seeing Miriam here?”

David, you…” Miriam’s gaze lingered between Rachel and David. Although she did not finish her sentence, her obscure gaze had already expressed everything.

Rachel’s eyes lit up when she heard how Miriam addressed David.

She thought, “Uncle?

“That form of address is really interesting!”

David’s hand on her waist tightened a little as if he was indirectly declaring his sovereignty over her. “You two should be familiar with each other. Remember to call her Aunt Rachel the next time you meet.”

Miriam was shocked.

Rachel was speechless.

That form of address was really old-fashioned.

Most importantly, the family would probably be in chaos if her future sister-in-law had to address her as Aunt Rachel in the future.

As she was deep in thought, David raised his head and looked at Miriam. There were no ripples of emotion in his calm gaze, only his usual coldness and indifference. “What’s the matter?”

After his reminder, Miriam suddenly came back to her senses. Thinking of her main purpose for coming here, she quickly took out the box “Corazon knew that I was coming to Seaxas and specially instructed me to bring this over to you.”

David’s eyes narrowed slightly when he saw the box she took out. A dark look flashed across his eyes.

He gave Billy a look.

The latter went forward to accept the item.

Miriam sat back on the sofa and curled her fingers slightly. After pondering for a long time, she asked carefully, “David, how would I

be related to Rachel if I marry into the Johnson family?”

Logically speaking, she would be Rachel’s sister-in-law if she married Lucas. However, because of the relationship between David and Rachel, Rachel was also her aunt.

This messy relationship was really a headache.

Rachel could not help but fall silent.

This was a troublesome question.

“She’ll be your aunt, of course.”

“Okay.” Miriam nodded blankly. “Then, David, Rachel, I’ll leave first.””

After Miriam left, Rachel broke free from David’s embrace. She crossed her arms and looked at David with a faint smile. “So, you arranged Lucas’s marriage?”

“A forced romance won’t have a happy ending.” David leaned forward and pulled Rachel into her arms again. “I only revealed a little bit of information. As for how she chooses, it’s up to her.”

Although he didn’t interfere, he did help push along Lucas’s marriage.

However, just as he said, a forced romance would not have a happy ending. If Miriam’s feelings for Lucas were not so sincere, she would not have recommended herself and taken the initiative to deliver herself to him. If that was the case, whatever happened next would not have happened.

David gently caressed her cheek with his well-defined fingers. He could not help but lean forward and kiss her. “What else do you want to ask?”

Rachel looked at him. “What’s her uncle’s relationship with you?”

She had investigated the other members of the Waller family when she investigated Miriam previously.

Miriam’s third uncle, Corazon Waller, was nicknamed the King of Hell.

He was a man who wore a cross at night all year round, but he was also a decisive and cold-blooded man.

The Waller family was prestigious. All the members of the family held important positions. With their status, the Waller family was not something that could just be described as a “wealthy family”.

“We’re sworn brothers,” David said calmly.

Rachel nodded. “So you’re the youngest out of the five?”

“Yes.” David twisted her earlobe with his fingertips. “I’ll bring them to see you when I have the chance!”

Rachel’s eyes flickered slightly.

Coincidentally, Mrs. Brown walked over and said respectfully, “Mr. Jones, Miss Grey, dinner is ready. We can eat now.”

The two of them looked at each other and walked into the dining room hand in hand.

The smile in Mrs. Brown’s eyes deepened as she watched the two of them drink the bowl of chicken soup.

After eating, Rachel returned to the bedroom to pack her luggage.
