Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 834

Chapter 834

“She’s not the only one who’s worried” Lucas walked over with one hand in his pocket. He reached out and took the sparkling wine from Zion. “Rachel can’t handle alcohol, so don’t give her this kind of drink”

Zion looked curiously at the glass of fruit wine Rachel was holding in her hands.

Fruit wine was more potent than sparkling wine.

And he said she could not handle liquor well?

However, having known Lucas for many years, Zion knew he was just trying to get Rachel out of a bind. Hence, he did not

insist.

“Miss Grey, don’t forget what you promised me Zion reminded her as he raised the goblet in his hand and clinked it against Rachel’s.

Lucas frowned slightly and looked at Rachel “What did you promise him?”

Rachel thought for a moment. “Nothing much. I just promised to help him survey the new building developed by the Summers family.”

Upon hearing this, Lucas looked at her solemnly and gave her a stern reminder. “Don’t be so quick to agree to a stranger’s request. You never know if the other party is up to no good.”

Zion was speechless.

Lucas and his group attracted a lot of attention from the others.

After all, good-looking people like them always intrigued people.

Especially the alluring Rachel. She possessed a beauty so exquisite that she left a lasting impression on anyone who took just one glance at her.

Her impeccable face, slender figure, and that dignified and elegant aura turned heads wherever she went.

All the guests who attended the banquet came from great authority and status.

If they could meet their soul mate at the banquet, not only would it be an anecdote, but the two families could also ally.

Just as everyone was getting restless, David and the others had reached the bottom of the stairs and were slowly approaching the group.

David donned a well-tailored black suit that perfectly accentuated his tall and straight figure.

The gorgeous crystal chandelier shone brightly on his well-defined lace, bringing out the features of his exquisite facial features.

An air of aristocratic and indifferent aura emanated from his body, creating an oppressive atmosphere around him. Everyone was suddenly aware of his imposing presence, and they voluntarily retreated as he walked through the crowd. David stood at the front expressionlessly. His eyes scanned the crowd with a disdainful attitude until his gaze landed on Rachel. Only then did the look in his eyes change.

Instantly, like winter transitioning to spring, the chilly atmosphere in the banquet hall lifted a little, giving way to a relaxed and warmer mood.

David walked over and extended his hand to Rachel.

Everyone was astonished when they saw that. They held their breath as they looked at the two people in front of them nervously.

The gentlemen at the banquet wanted Rachel to reject David, while the woman hoped it was nothing more than a whimsical interest in Rachel..

Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Rachel smiled and placed her hand in David’s palin

Everyone’s faces turned crestfallen when the two hands interlocked.

David walked up to Old Mr. Johnson holding Rachel’s hand and greeted him respectfully, “Mr. Johnson.”

His voice was low and husky but solemn.

Old Mr. Johnson looked at David. He knew David had purposely put on that show to declare his relationship with Rachel

Old Mr. Johnson had still harbored a lining of hope in his heart. However, David’s actions had completely smothered that faint trace of hope.

Everyone would know about David and Rachel after that night.

Old Mr. Johnson rubbed the dragon-headed walking stick in his hand. He took a deep breath and said calmly, “Mr. Jones,

you’re too kind.”

“You are Rae-Rae’s grandfather. As a junior, I should greet you,” David replied.

His polite and modest speech shocked everyone.

David was the head of the Jones family in Aureliana. He was also the leader of Seaxas’s underground forces.

With a status like his, even the Four Families of Seaxas had to humble themselves in his presence.

But now, he was so respectful and humble in front of Old Mr. Johnson!

Meanwhile, the dumbfounded Hans stood frozen in his spot. He looked like he had been struck by lightning. He gaped, and his eyes were quavering as he turned to look at Rachel in utter disbelief.

Old Mr. Johnson of the Johnson family, the wealthiest man in Seaxas was Rachel’s grandfather.

What the hell was going on!

Back then, when Sophia and he got married, Sophia had said she had no relatives and was born in the countryside.

Moreover, he had checked on the Johnson family’s background when they came to pick up Rachel twenty years ago. They were nobodies. No stature and no power. How did Old Mr. Johnson suddenly become the richest man?

If Rachel was the granddaughter of the richest family in Seaxas, then she would be at the helm of the Johnson Corporation!

The realizations came at Hans like shockwaves. He was utterly flabbergasted, and his heart almost stopped. Chills ran down his spine.

Hans was not the only one who was shocked. Louis was surprised, too.

He tightened his grip around his wine glass subconsciously. His eyes became slightly bloodshot as he stared unblinkingly at David and Rachel standing together.

Rachel was the granddaughter of the richest man in Seaxas!

Louis felt as though a bucket of bone-piercing, icy cold water had been poured over his heart, and his fingers shook uncontrollably. Blood drained from his face, and his mind went into a tailspin. He was unable to think straight.
