Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 838

Chapter 838

Rachel did not say anything. She only stared at him for a moment,

She did not know if it was her imagination, but she felt Ronnie’s words seemed to have a hidden meaning.

She pondered for a moment and smiled. “Thank you, Mr. Dickens.”

With that, she left.

Ronnie’s gaze followed her back until the tall and slender figure disappeared from his sight.

At that moment, he turned slightly and glanced toward the corridor’s comer. A faint glimmer of indistinct coldness flickered in his eyes as he murmured. “Those who eavesdrop generally do not meet a good end.”

Louis, who was hiding in the corner, was slightly stunned.

He thought his position would go unnoticed, but he did not expect the other party to know everything.

After hesitating for half a second, Louis slowly walked out from the corner of the corridor. “I didn’t mean to eavesdrop.” Ronnie raised his eyes and glanced at him indifferently. ‘Did Mr. Smith especially come to look for me?”

“Yes.” Louis did not hide anything. “To be honest, I want South Valley’s land.”

He desires even more to gain control over South Valley!

The bidding tonight seemed to be a fair competition, but rumors were spreading like wildfire.

Everyone was talking about South Valley’s would land in the hands of Jimmy!

Although the rumors were unreliable, Louis knew very well that there was no such thing as an impenetrable wall in this world.

Now that such a rumor had appeared, it was most likely that everyone had vaguely sensed something.

Moreover, seeing members of the Shain family conversing joyfully with David at the banquet tonight further solidifies Louis’s belief that the rumors are not baseless.

With the Smith family’s strength, he was not worthy of competing with the Shain family. However, he was unwilling to give up the benefits that were about to reach his grasp.

After thinking about it, he only hoped that Ronnie could help him.

Ronnie raised his eyebrows slightly and glanced at him with a faint smile. “What makes you think I’ll help you?”

“I know that the Shain family intends to interfere with South Valley’s land, Louis said. “And the Shain family has always obeyed David’s orders. If they get this land, I’m afraid Mr. Diekens’s business in South Valley will not be good

Ronnie’s eyes were lowered, making it impossible to see the emotions in his eyes.

He rubbed the bone ring on his index finger with his fingertips. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly, like a blooming poppy, dangerous and charming. “I think Mr. Smith put a lot of effort into me to know this.”

“I wouldn’t dare. Louis’s eyes flickered with a hint of panic as he explained, “Mr. Dickens, despite being new to the city, has managed to establish in Seaxas in just a few months. You had already become a well-known person that everyone in Seaxas knows. It’s not difficult to gather information about you.”

“I came here specifically to look for Mr. Diekens to cooperate with yous sincerely. He paused and continued, “As long as you are willing to help me get the land of South Valley, I will not interfere in your business matters.”

Hearing this, a hint of mockery flashed across Ronnie’s eyes. “Tll consider it carefully.”

With that, he walked away.

The buzz-cut man followed behind him and muttered in a low voice, “Who is he? He’s not worthy of negotiating with us.” Ronnie looked up at him. “A blind man who thinks he’s smart is not worthy.”

It was understandable that Ronnie thought he was smart enough, but being a blind man….

He turned to look at Louis, who was still standing there. “Mr. Diekens, is he blind?”

Ronnie glanced at him. “You mistook fish eyes for pearls. He can’t be more blind!”

The buzz-cut man was confused.

His small head was full of question marks.

On the other side, as Rachel walked towards David, she saw a few people sitting beside him from afar. Jimmy and Landon were among them. There was also Che Shannon from the north of the city and Daniel Trent from the west.

The four of them sat together and looked like they were standing on four legs.

Rachel did not go over to disrupt him. Instead, she walked to the buffet table and chose an exquisite cupcake.

Mary sneaked over from behind her. I’ve been looking for you for a long time. So you’re hiding here to steal food.”

“Do you want to try it?” Rachel said, handing her the cupcake.

Mary looked at her happily eating, and a hint of suspicion appeared in her eyes. “I thought you didn’t like sweets in the past?”

Rachel did not think much about it. “Preference changes, right?”

“Is that so?” Mary scrutinized her. She seemed to have thought of something and grabbed Rachel’s arm. “Come here! I have something to tell you!”

She dragged Rachel to an empty corner and looked around nervously. “Rae-Rae, don’t tell me you are pregnant!”

Hearing her words, Rachel was stunned.

Although she did not understand why Mary would have such thoughts, she explained patiently, “No, don’t let imagination run wild.”

your

“No?” Mary was skeptical. “But I heard that the sudden change in appetite is most likely because she’s pregnant…”

Rachel laughed. ‘Don’t overthink about it.”

“I’m just worried about you.” Mary said, “Girls are the easiest to take advantage of. I’m just afraid that you’ll do something stupid in the heat of the moment.”
