"So," Isaac closed the door behind him. "What is it that you found which might convince me to work for you?"
"Have there been any cases of vampires attacking humans and then having to be confined to their homes? Not fools attacking humans because their king speaks of it but it appears as though they lost control of their minds. Cases the court wants to keep quiet," said Xavier. free𝑤ebnovel.com
"I have heard something about it but it has been written off as vampires having their fun. According to the king, there isn’t any harm in it so these people are confined to their homes and then freed once they calm down. Who do you know was confined?" Isaac wondered since it was a secret matter.
"One of Selene’s friends spoke of someone they know attacking humans. She said it wasn’t like her friend. It is mostly those close to the king who enjoy the idea of attacking humans and killing them after drinking their blood. Do you remember what happened to my aunt?" Xavier asked, his mind going over her unfortunate time.
"I do,’ Isaac nodded his head. "She got her fangs broken for it. The way she acted caused her great shame. I still think her punishment was too cruel. Why did your grandfather ever go so far with her punishment?"
"My father got in his ear and it worked. It is why my aunt hates my father but she’ll come around to do as he asks while waiting to get her revenge. It wasn’t a good idea for him to call my aunt to town but he’s so focused on my marriage that he misses her holding a dagger behind her back," Xavier replied.
"It is times like this when I am very glad I am not part of your family. It’s going to be a big problem if she tries to kill your father. The only way she could do it would be if she gets her hands on a holy weapon and if she goes to kill him, your grandfather will wake," Isaac said, worried about the aftermath.
Isaac would be a lot less concerned about Camilla killing Nathaniel if Xavier didn’t have a holy weapon he could pass off to her. "You wouldn’t help your aunt kill your father, right? You hate him but you wouldn’t stir up that trouble."
"I wouldn’t," Xavier replied honestly.
"Good," Isaac sighed in relief. That was one last issue he had to keep watch of.
"I’m going to kill him myself. Why should I let her have all the fun because he got her fangs broken? He’s been gathering the family to speak about my wife. Isn’t it fair that I kill him?" Xavier asked, seeking a genuine answer.
"She can’t drink blood from a human if she desperately needs to. Her fangs are gone which is a great shame for any vampire. It rips a big part of us," Isaac tried to explain but he knew it was falling on deaf ears.
"She can still live for a long time and she possesses talents unlike any other. I’m sure in the future there will be fake fangs for her to use. My aunt will be fine without fangs but my wife will not be well if my family continues to show interest in her. You should be rooting for me to kill him. Are you hoping she beats me to it?" Xavier asked, going for the rope to put it away.
"Why does it feel like if I don’t answer to your liking you might kill me? I don’t want to see anyone kill a Blackthorn. That’s going to create a lot of problems for the palace to fix. Whenever one of you gets hurt, everyone is on edge. Why don’t we focus on the attacks?" Isaac asked, seeing that as more important.
"You’re a terrible friend-"
"Because I don’t want you to kill your father? Who in their right mind would cheer you on to do that? I don’t want any part in it and we are not friends. You!" Isaac pointed his finger at Xavier. "Forced your way into my life."
