"Milady!" Agnes called, happy to see Selene inside. She was curious if the dinner was going well. "I-" She stopped after seeing Selene and Xavier be so open with their kissing and hands on each other.
"I wouldn’t go anywhere near that room if I were you. You won’t be able to hear what is being done inside but you’ll have a good idea and if you open the door, your job might be over. Go have dinner," Lucas advised Agnes.
Agnes was startled by Lucas being so close to her. "When did you get here? No, that’s not important. Why do you look so happy over that? Don’t tell me-"
"Please don’t make some awful assumption that I am a pervert. I am just happy my backup plan is well on the way. If Xavier ever goes to sleep, then I will need someone to work for while he is resting. Who better to follow than a child of his?" Lucas asked.
"You are all very odd," Agnes concluded.
When Agnes thought of Selene having a baby, she thought of getting to dress up the baby, but Lucas was looking for his next boss.
Lucas shrugged his shoulders. "It’s not my fault you aren’t preparing for the future. Eventually, all the purebloods get tired of time passing by and nothing exciting happening so they decide to rest for a while and when that happens, I need someone else to employ me. Think about yourself," he flicked her head.
Agnes swatted Lucas’s hand away. "I go wherever my lady goes. If she rests, then I will rest too and wake when she does. I have better things to do than speak about the unknown future so excuse me."
"If you are going to dinner, it is the other way," Lucas pointed over his shoulder.
Agnes never noticed it before but now she realised that Lucas was someone she didn’t want to hear talking so much. "I never said I was going to dinner," she replied, continuing to walk in the wrong direction. "I hope she is having a better time than me."
Upstairs, Selene and Xavier made it to their room. The basket was long forgotten at the door as they made their way to the bed.
"I said to walk normally," Selene scolded Xavier. "Now they must all know."
"If I walk around holding and kissing you every day then it will become the norm. Don’t worry about them right now. Not many servants saw us," Xavier said, more interested in continuing where they left off.
Xavier first discarded Selene’s clothing and then his own.
"I’m starting to realise what we started tonight," Selene said, knowing she might be in for a few more very passionate nights since they were both excited.
Xavier placed Selene so she laid comfortably on the pillows, a welcomed break from lying on the ground. "What exactly have we started?" He asked, occupying himself by leaving kisses on her skin.
The marks from his earlier kisses were quickly fading so he had to make more.
"I will not play this game with you," Selene said, knowing what he was doing. She laughed, tickled by his hair brushing against her skin. "I could wear one of Francesca’s gifts."
"We don’t need it now," Xavier replied, his lips moving against her skin. He looked up after leaving a fresh mark above her breasts. "Surprise me with it tomorrow. We have many more days ahead of us."
Selene’s response was trapped somewhere in her throat as Xavier touched her leg, pulling her down toward him.
If this was how their nights would be from now on, Selene didn’t mind it.
"I hope you aren’t lying there getting lost in thought," Xavier said.
