"I hope you don’t mind if I steal your husband for a bit. There is still much I want to speak to him about," said Michael.

"You can have him. I will go to our room," Selene informed Xavier.

She wasn’t of any use to their plans, so it was best to stay out of the way. Selene left the pair to speak, hoping that it wouldn’t turn to Xavier wanting to kill Michael soon. She had a feeling, based on the smile Michael wore now, that he might say something to upset Xavier.

Agnes found her way to Selene’s side. "Should I prepare warm water for you?"

"Not yet. I think I will stay up tonight. It’s been so long since I’ve enjoyed the beauty of nighttime. I haven’t been keeping up with seeing what the maids are doing. Remind me to take a stroll around to see their work," said Selene.

"I will. I have been setting out your coats since the days are turning cold. You don’t need them, but it is good to dress to fit the season. There is something I must tell you," Agnes said, nervous about her news.

"What is it?" Selene asked, stopping so she could face Agnes.

"Isaac has spoken of wanting to court me, and I accepted spending some time with him outside of the estate. It would be during the day. Before I accepted, I should have asked what you felt about it. I am sorry," Agnes apologised.

"Why must you know how I feel? This is entirely up to you and Isaac. I won’t get in the way of you being courted by anyone. I am happy for you," Selene said, placing her hand on Agnes’s shoulder. "Have you decided on a dress?"

Agnes shook her head. "No. I was busy tending to you and your guests. I thought a simple dress would work, but now I am realising my dresses might be too simple. He is a man of the court."

"Isaac doesn’t work in the court anymore. You know that," said Selene.

"He’s a pureblood," Agnes said.

"I’m sure he is well aware he is a pureblood. You don’t need to worry, Agnes. He has decided to court you for a reason. He must have taken a good liking to you since he would be tied to the estate even more. Come," Selene said, holding onto Agnes’s hand. "I can find you a dress."

"Those dresses are for you. Anyone would think I am playing around in your dresses," Agnes said, but still followed Selene.

"It doesn’t matter what anyone would think since I am making a gift to you. I know you will make yourself so busy that you won’t have time to pick out a dress. I also know you are questioning everything because you don’t want to leave my side. One day, you will and I will be fine with it," Selene assured Agnes.

"I have grown used to you at my side, and I would find it hard if you ever leave to focus on your own life, but I want you to find your happiness. Sometimes, you need to think of yourself and not how I would feel," Selene advised Agnes.

"I don’t know what to do if I am not at your side," Agnes confessed.

"Starting with your time with Isaac, you will find other things to do. From what I see, he is a good man. If he is not to your liking, it is also perfectly fine to move on and court someone else. For now, let us focus on you having fun," said Selene.
