Selene woke up to the sunlight creeping through the windows. Immediately, she dreaded what Xavier had planned for the day.
Selene was surprised Xavier had not woken her up right away when the sun was greeting the town. He had allowed her to rest and did nothing while they lay in each other’s arms.
Selene peered to her right, finding Xavier fast asleep. Or so he wanted her to believe.
"I know that you are awake," Selene said, poking his cheek. "You always wake up earlier than I do."
Xavier captured her finger and opened his eyes. "I was giving you a little more time to rest. You ruined it."
Xavier pressed his hand against Selene’s lower back to bring her closer to him.
"You were so eager last night, but now you are quite calm. What is it that you are planning? Tell me so that I can be prepared," said Selene.
"If you don’t like it, will you take back your offer?" Xavier asked.
"No," Selene replied, poking her finger at his chest. "I meant what I said. I thought of everything you could want me to do, and I still accept it. I just want to know what you have planned first so I can be prepared."
"It is nothing for you to prepare yourself for, but I am curious what it is you think that I want," Xavier said.
Selene wasn’t going to fall into Xavier’s trap. "You already know what I am thinking. Must you make me say it?"
"I don’t have the power to read your mind, Selene. You must tell me what you are thinking."
Selene folded her lips. All she wanted to do was get out of bed and leave Xavier behind. "We have been a bit too busy to be intimate, and after last night, I am sure that is how you planned to spend the day. Is it not?"
Selene would be surprised if this wasn’t what Xavier planned because it was the first thing that she thought of.
Xavier kissed Selene’s forehead and released her so he could get out of bed. "I am tempted to do it, but it is not how I want to spend the entire day. I will let Agnes come in to dress you, and then we have somewhere to go alone. Do not overthink it."
Selene didn’t know how not to overthink what Xavier was planning. She had already made up her mind that they would spend the day making love in ways she would normally not be open to, but that was not what Xavier had planned.
"Xavier," Selene said, sitting up. "Are you still going to make up with your father like you said you would?"
Xavier stopped to look at Selene. "What are you talking about? When did I ever say that? Are you ill?"
Selene shook her head. "No, I wanted to check that you were not a shapeshifter. It is you."
"Is it bothering you that I didn’t plan to make love to you right away? I can change my plans," Xavier said, returning to bed.
