After dinner, Xavier walked Selene to her room. He wouldn’t see her until morning so he enjoyed the last sight of her that he had for the day.
Selene was distracted like always by the decorations in the estate. Xavier wondered if she thought of changing anything that wasn’t to her liking.
Tonight, Xavier saw a bit more of her fear when Selene spoke of not knowing what she would have done without him. She didn’t have anyone else to turn to and her maids were the only people she looked to as family.
"Do you plan to join me when I visit your old family home? Your relatives wouldn’t be foolish to harm you or speak poorly to you when you become a Blackthorn," Xavier sparked a conversation.
"Then you have never been around them long enough to know they would do just that. I would love to visit it once more and personally see what is left of it. If you could get it out of their hands, that would be wonderful," Selene replied.
She continued, "I am indebted to you once more. You must think of something I can offer you. Other than entertainment. We could do something fun together so you aren’t bored." freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"I am not bored these days. Still, I will hear what you have in mind."
"I will do my best to think of something fun here on the estate. I don’t have many hobbies which may be fun for you. Luckily, I have a secret weapon to find the answer," Selene said, thinking of Harold.
"Harold?" Xavier asked. "Why go to him when I am here to help come up with ideas?"
Selene shook her head, not wanting to do that. "I want it to be a surprise. You might be hard to please so I will plan well with the help of Harold and the head maid."
"Why go to Harold when you can just come to me? Ask me," Xavier said, holding Selene’s hand so she would stop walking. "If you want to know anything about me, just ask me."
"Did anyone say I was asking around about you?" Selene wondered. She had promised Harold she would keep what he said a secret.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Harold was reporting what they spoke about to Xavier.
"It is obvious since you don’t come to me. Have I not made you feel comfortable to come to me? I will not get angry or annoyed if you want to learn something about me or know about my relationship with others," said Xavier.
"You have made it comfortable to speak to you but when I have my questions, you are not around. I will hold my questions for when you are around. I’m sorry," Selene apologised but she didn’t know what for.
"Do not apologise. You make me want to bite you," Xavier said, peering down at her exposed neck.
