Betrayed By The Hero, Loved By The Lord novel Chapter 37

Chapter 37: A mother’s wishes (1)

’When will he get rid of them?’ Cassandra wondered.

The sight of vampires in the home still bothered her. She would always feel out of place with so many around. If Gabriel wanted to make her feel comfortable then he needed to hire more humans and get rid of the servants who were sulking over Selene’s departure.

"They came here for work. Why are they so worked up about her no longer being here? They will wake up in due time," Cassandra said, not the least bit concerned about the servants.

When their jobs were at stake they would forget about Selene.

Cassandra dragged herself out of bed. Another night passed with Gabriel taking his frustration out on her during their intimacy. He was rough which made it hard to enjoy at times but she knew he would soon calm down once they were married.

Cassandra made her way downstairs to see that the servants were doing their jobs right. She was still trying to pick up where Selene left off with the affairs of the house and so far, she was doing a good job at it.

Cassandra liked hearing the three maids she picked to serve her walking so close by. They would do anything she said since she was the new lady of the house. "Where is Gabriel?"

"He has gone to train, Milady," A maid named Mandy answered. "He should return within the next hour. If you need, I can send someone for him."

"Leave him be. I enjoy the peace. This gives me time to look around the home once more to see what I like and dislike. Like this," Cassandra touched a curtain. "She picked this, didn’t she? Get rid of it and everything else she prepared. We don’t have any use for what she liked anymore."

Cassandra wished they could give Selene these useless things but they should fetch for a good price. Still, Cassandra would like for it to appear like Selene needed the charity. That would fuel the rumours that Selene had been outsmarted by a human.

Something about Selene annoyed Cassandra.

"Gabriel!" Cassandra heard the echo of Lucinda’s voice.

Again, Lucinda came when she was not needed.

Cassandra made her way to the door to greet Lucinda. With how Lucinda acted at times, one would think she was the one who went out to war. Lucinda tried to force her way to have her name attached to Gabriel’s praises. Speaking as if she was the one who taught him how to use a sword.

Cassandra smiled when she found Lucinda.

"Oh! There you are. I was starting to think neither of you was home and failed to inform you that you would not be present. You have not started the wedding plans without me, have you?" Lucinda asked, drawing close to Cassandra to hug her.

"I have not. Gabriel and I have been enjoying each other’s company for now," Cassandra replied.
