Evelyn continued her conversation after she and her daughter had calmed down a little.
"Your father and I have wronged you and we'll try to make it up to you." She declared. Lucia nodded.
"Ca...can you talk to Eric for me?" She voiced out.
"Don't you think you should be the one to talk to him?"
"I'm ashamed, mom. I'm scared too. He warned me not to come anywhere near him."
"You were wrong and you should take responsibility for your actions. Approach him; let him know how sorry you are."
"I don't think he will forgive me. Even if he does, I don't think Annie will ever forgive me. What I did was unforgivable."
"Just take the first step. Apologize and let them know how sorry you are."
"Thanks, mom." She pulled her mother into a hug. "I love you."
"I love you too dear."
"So how do you feel now that you've let it all out?" She asked.
"I feel better. I will find a way to apologize to Annie and Eric then I'll go back to school to take the tests I've missed, and above all, I will work on being a better person. I know I can't change what happened but I hope Annie and Eric forgive me. Thanks for hearing me out mom." She said sincerely.
"You're welcome, baby" Evelyn kissed her forehead.
After their emotional reunion, Evelyn forced Lucia to take a shower after which they both left her apartment to have lunch in a restaurant. After their lunch, they went grocery shopping then headed back to Lucia's apartment. Evelyn helped in arranging the items they bought and made dinner with Lucia's help.
Talking with Lucia made Evelyn think things through. She felt guilty her daughter had to go through all of that alone. Thinking about it, she had only been to Lucia's apartment once which was the day Austin bought the apartment for her, so she decided to spend the night with Lucia.
Lucia was taking her bath when Evelyn took out her phone and called Austin to let him know she would be spending the night with Lucia. She told him there was more to the whole issue and that she will discuss it with him when they see the next day.
Evelyn was done setting the table when Lucia walked out of her room in her pyjamas dress. She broke the news to her that she would be spending the night with her and Lucia's joy knew no bounds.
Her face lit up like a kid whose dream eventually came true. Her reaction was something Evelyn never saw in her for over fifteen years.
They ate their dinner, did the dishes together and spent the rest of the evening watching movies and having a mother-daughter talk.
Even though there was a guest bedroom, Lucia insisted her mom slept with her in her room. She had one of the best sleep ever, having her mom's arms wrapped around her possessively.
The next day, Lucia offered to make breakfast for herself and her mom. They ate, watched a movie then Evelyn started preparing to leave.
"I'll always be here for you honey. If you ever need someone to talk to or if you need anything, don't hesitate to call me okay?"
"I'll mom. Thanks for staying over. It means a lot to me."
