Chapter 42 Let's Date
Be friends first? Did he want to play with Joy's affection or did he not find Joy attractive? Jacquelyn glanced at Elvis's handsome face and felt that the second possibility was more reliable. She felt anxious and tugged at Rejoyla's hand under the table.
Rejoyla didn't catch Elvis's implied meaning and thought that he was right. After all, how could two people who just met make any progress? Rejoyla didn't believe in love at first sight and believed that love was built up over time. Elvis gave her a good impression, but unfortunately, if it weren't for the things between her and Jason, she wouldn't mind getting to know him. Thinking of Jason, Rejoyla no longer found Elvis attractive and avoided Elvis's smiling gaze, looking down and poking the rose pastry on her plate with a fork.
Elvis was surprised by Rejoyla's avoidance and a hint of amusement flashed in his eyes. After all, his appearance had always been advantageous, and few women could resist him. He didn't expect that Elvis wasn't interested in him!
"Joy, may I call you like this? What do you like to eat? The grilled meat in this restaurant is good. Do you want to try it?"
"Sure, you decide!"
Slapping off Jacquelyn's hand that was pulling her under the table, Rejoyla reluctantly agreed. Didn't he call her Miss Lynn earlier? Why did he suddenly change his address? He didn't seem like the kind of person who was overly familiar with others.
After Elvis ordered the food, Jacquelyn suddenly took out her phone and looked at it. "Oh, Burton wants me to go back. I won't accompany you anymore. Mr. LimBurton, I'll go back first!"
"Since Mr. Sterling has something to do, you should go back. I'll take care of Joy."
Elvis smiled and nodded. The more Jacquelyn looked at him, the more satisfied she felt. She let go of her grievances toward Burton. It was clear that Burton valued her since he introduced such a good man to Rejoyla.
After giving Rejoyla a warning with her eyes to not cause any trouble, Jacquelyn immediately left, leaving the two alone. Burton didn't look for her, and that was just an excuse she made. After observing Elvis for a while, she was sure that Elvis was reliable, so she wouldn't stay as a third wheel.
The atmosphere between them became a bit awkward after Jacquelyn left. Of course, this was what Rejoyla thought. Elvis didn't feel any awkwardness and casually looked at Rejoyla's face before asking, "Are you the only daughter in your family, Joy?"
"Um, no, I have an older sister and a younger sister."
"Oh, Ms. Howardson is lucky to have three daughters. But you don't look like Ms. Howardson. Do your other sisters look like you?"
"Is that so? I heard that I look a lot like my aunt, but I've never met her, so I don't know if it's true." Rejoyla blinked, feeling like something was wrong. Elvis's questions were too detailed. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but the way he looked at her always made her uncomfortable.
Rejoyla took a closer look and felt she had thought too much. Elvis's eyes were clearly gentle.
"By the way, Mr. LimBurton, why did you come to this blind date?"
Elvis propped his elbow on the table and smiled warmly. His black eyes were bright as he gazed directly at Rejoyla. "To meet you, of course!"
Rejoyla blushed and widened her eyes. She didn't expect such a clean and elegant man to say something like that. She didn't know how to respond.
Elvis squinted at Lin's round cat-like eyes, and a hint of surprise flashed across his eyes. Rejoyla did look like her!
"Ha-ha, Mr. LimBurton, you're quite the joker!"
"What if I'm not joking? Joy, let's date!" Elvis didn't give Rejoyla a chance to make an excuse. He stood up suddenly and took her hands, staring at her with intense focus. It was as if he was looking at his entire world, and his eyes were filled with intoxicating tenderness!
Rejoyla opened her mouth wide. She was so shocked that she stammered, "Didn't you say... we should get to know each other first?"
"Yes, I've known you, so I've fallen in love with you!"
The corner of Rejoyla's mouth twitched. Logically speaking, she should be happy because such a handsome confessed his love to her when they first met. Even if she didn't like him, her vanity wouldn't make her dislike him. She couldn't explain why, but something about Elvis made her suspicious. Such intuition made Rejoyla doubt whether Elvis had any bad intentions. Moreover, Rejoyla knew in her heart that she was not a very beautiful woman. She was lucky to be with Jason because of her pretty face. Why did Elvis fall in love with her at first sight?
Rejoyla decided to trust her intuition. She tried to pull her hands away. Elvis's grip was strong though he looked elegant. Rejoyla used all her strength, but there was nothing she could do.
"Let go!"
"Let go of her!"
