Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon) novel Chapter 186

Edward didn't turn his head, acting as if he hadn't heard Gregory's and Emma's pleas. He gently brushed Janice's cheek with the back of his hand. "You rest for a while. I'll be back tonight," he said softly.

He didn't want to leave so soon after Janice woke up, but there were things he needed to take care of. He couldn't just drop everything.

Janice understood and gave a small nod. "Okay."

Edward looked at her for a moment before Barbara spoke up. "I'll stay here and take care of her. Don't worry."

Seeing Edward's expression, Barbara could tell he was deeply worried about Janice. Her reassurances gave him a sense of relief. With a nod, Edward finally turned and headed for the door.

Janice had been right about him looking disheveled. He had been staying at the hospital without even shaving, yet he still exuded an intimidating presence.

As Edward was leaving, Gregory and Emma tried to talk to him. Edward didn't spare them a glance. "If you mess with the peace here again, Heidi will be ruined," he said, his tone icy.

Edward's words make Emma nearly collapse. "Edward, you and Didi grew up together. How could you…"

Edward turned and gestured to the bodyguards. Without a word, they immediately grabbed Emma by the arms and escorted her off the floor.

Edward checked into a hotel near the hospital. He took a shower to freshen up, then changed into a clean suit and coat. Afterward, he headed to Stanmore Drive.

Gregory and Emma, who had been escorted out of the hospital earlier, waited outside Stanmore Drive. They rushed over as Edward's car approached.

"Mr. Moore, please let us see Heidi!" Emma pleaded, her voice tinged with desperation.

But Edward felt no sympathy for them. Inside the Bentley, he asked, "Who told you Heidi is with me?"

Gregory's eyes flickered with shock. Edward wasn't about to admit to taking Heidi, nor was he ready to let the matter drop.

Those words were painfully familiar. Simon used to scold Amelia in the same way.

Lately, Amelia felt like she was falling apart and barely hanging on. Before, she had to swallow her pride and keep Heidi appeased to get the medication she needed, all while planning her revenge on Janice.

Now, after Edward had found out and taken action, Heidi was turning her back on her.

"Do you dare say you don't want to get rid of Janice?" Amelia shot back. "Don't act like Simon, passing the blame when things go wrong! The more you deny it, the harder I'll come after you."

She sneered, "What do I have to be afraid of? But you've got a lot more to lose than I do, don't you, Ms. Olson?"

The bodyguards exchanged confused glances when they heard the name "Ms. Olson" come from Amelia's mouth. Why was Heidi calling herself "Ms. Olson"? They'd been with Edward long enough to know that Janice was the real Shirley Olson. Heidi was truly shameless.

Heidi's heart skipped a beat. She had thought of Amelia as just someone to take the blame, but now, she was surprised to find out Amelia had the guts to bite back.
