Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon) novel Chapter 198

Back at the hotel suite, Janice lay down to rest as Edward took care of her.

She sighed helplessly. "I'm not that fragile. The doctor just said to avoid strenuous activity."

"We're in a foreign country. It's better to be cautious."

Edward had doubled the usual number of bodyguards for this trip. He was worried that something unexpected might happen and affect her condition.

When his phone rang, he said, "I'll answer this call."

"Alright."

He stepped into the living room, poured himself a cup of tea, and listened to the voice on the other end.

"Onley Group is preparing to enter the domestic market ahead of the competition. It looks like the entire family is moving back to the country. Those crochet designs that suddenly made waves in the international competition all came from them.

"They've been secretly hiring retired seamstresses at high prices to build their reputation and establish a foothold in the domestic market."

The voice continued, "Onley Group's approach has always been the same—throw money at the problem first. If that doesn't work, they'll crush any opposition. They ensure that seamstresses who refuse to join them have nowhere else to go, so they're forced to either give up the craft entirely or submit to Onley Group.

"Your girlfriend is lucky she's a local. Otherwise, she might not have escaped their tactics."

Onley Group dominated the international crochet industry, with over 90% of seamstresses abroad working under them. They were experts at monopolizing the industry. In the past, the top seamstresses and the ten best designs each year had always come from Onley Group.

But then Shirley emerged. Not only did she challenge Onley Group's dominance, but she also refused to work for them. Onley Group wasn't just trying to suppress her—they wanted her gone.

Edward's main focus was investigating what had happened to Janice.

"I got it," he said.

"Be careful, Mr. Moore. Once the competition is over, return home as soon as possible. The people from Onley Group are ruthless—they'll stop at nothing."

The voice on the phone belonged to Theron Yates, Edward's late grandfather's former secretary. The Moore family addressed him respectfully as "Mr. Yates".

Edward's late grandfather had once been among the most powerful figures, and Theron had been by his side for a lifetime. He had a wider network than Robert.

Even after Edward's grandfather passed away, Theron continued to watch over the Moores.
