Janice understood Edward's reasoning. "Now that Simon has taken my money, I'll reclaim his shares once I transfer my money into Refined Threads Co.'s account."
Edward asked, "Don't you have money in that bank card?"
"That's your money."
Edward held her by the neck and brought her closer. "Why don't you consider it as capital for your second try at your startup? You can pay me back with interest when your business turns profitable."
He then sealed her lips with a kiss.
"I'm leaving." He waved at Janice. "Remember to have your meals. I might be home late tonight."
He had a business engagement that night.
"Okay."
…
After spending half the day at Refined Threads Co., Janice returned to Prosper Stitch Group in the afternoon to oversee the new orders.
The product managers were focused on work as they didn't want to be fired for underperformance. Competition among employees was stiff.
In a company meeting, Janice made herself clear. "I plan to launch a new series that consists of products showcasing outfits inspired by different eras. Our target audience will be actors and actresses, filming sets, and historical clothing retailers."
One of the senior managers inquired, "Are we launching crocheted products?"
"That's right."
"That'll be too challenging. Every product will take a long time."
"That's why we need to set up pre-order channels. We'll come up with design sketches before the seamstresses work on them. We need a new logo for this series, and we'll launch it as one of the product lines in Prosper Stitch Group."
Janice had absolute authority in the decision to launch a new product line. In fact, she didn't even need to call a vote in the meeting.
She added, "The planning team will be in charge of the logo design and the naming of products. We'll convene the day after tomorrow for a vote."
After the meeting, Janice called for a few managers.
…
Simon drank throughout the day after he was kicked out of Refined Threads Co. Hiding in his hotel room, he drank himself into oblivion without sparing a thought for Helena or Sarah.
Elsie was shocked when she found him looking disheveled in his hotel room. He drunkenly lay on the couch with a stubbled chin and wrinkled shirt. Beer bottles were scattered across the floor, and the ashtray was overflowing with cigarette butts.
Even the air in the room smelled stuffy and smoky.
Elsie hurriedly opened a window for air circulation. "Simon, what's happened to you? Who beat you up?"
Simon had suffered at Edward's hands before his old wounds had healed. He had a serious bruise on the eye because Edward punched him really hard.
Elsie asked again, "What's going on? Why aren't you at work?"
Feeling irritated by her unending questions, he snapped, "Who do you think you are? You have no right to poke your nose into my business!"
She nearly cried after he yelled at her. "I'm Elsie! Simon, don't feel discouraged. I gave you money, didn't I? Chin up! Janice is just lucky to have Prosper Stitch Group helping her out. She wouldn't have won the first prize in the international competition otherwise. But luck won't always be on her side."
