Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon) novel Chapter 252

"Do I need an appointment just to see you?" Simon scoffed, his tone laced with mockery.

"Janice, have you forgotten? You still owe my family a life. My father saved your brother. Now that you're rich and successful, it's only right to help your benefactor's family. Otherwise, if word gets out, what will people say about you?

His shamelessness had reached a whole new level.

Janice twirled a pencil between her fingers, looking unbothered. "So, let me get this straight, you came to see me because you've finally figured out who I am. Now, you want something from me? This is what this is all about, right?"

Simon faltered for a second.

"Sure." Janice gestured to her secretary to bring in a check. She picked up the check and a pen, walked over to Simon, and handed them to him.

"Write down a number, but it has to be within reasonable limits. Once you fill it in, I'll publicly announce to every media outlet in Greenfield City that my ties to your family are completely severed. From that moment on, we'll owe each other nothing."

Her decisiveness stunned him.

A check?

That was just a fixed amount of money!

Simon didn't want just money. What he wanted was her value as a person. That was because it came with her talent, wealth, influence, and connections.

He shoved the check away. "So, this is how little gratitude you have for my father saving your brother's life?"

Janice had expected this reaction and chuckled. "So, it's not money you're after?"

She already knew what kind of man he was—a leech. He was a parasite who refused to let go. And she had been waiting for him to come crawling back so that she could finally shut the door in his face.

Simon's gaze flickered. "I'm not here to take advantage of you. Making money isn't easy, so I don't want your money."

Just listen to him acting all noble like he wasn't a disgusting, greedy rat.

"How about this?" he continued. "Use your crochet skills and make a few pieces for me. That way, we can call it a collaboration."
