As Simon and Janice stood by the road, his expression was unusuallycan. “Janice, give me those transfer records, and that’ll settle everything. I won’t touch your brother.”
“Where’s Jacob?” janter demanded.
Simon’s eyes darkened with an eerie malice. “That’s not what you should be worried about right now.
Janice lifted her chin and met his pare. “I won’t give you anything if I can’t continha safety. You have the wrong person, Simon. You know I hate you, but you think I’ll give in to your demands past because I’m tried by a mere threat? You’ll lose more then I will it we go down together.”
Her words hit too close to home. Simon clenched his jaw and lutew her well enough to tear her determination. He had witnessed her go out of her way five years ago, landing berselt in the hospital.
Fushing her too far might backfire.
Simon smiled. He leaned closer and braced his arms on either side of her against the roadside railing “So hand over the records, and we can keep things civil. Don’t count on Edward to keep protecting you. You two have matching rings, don’t you? Why aren’t you ‘weating yours? Did you think I ever believed you were together?”
Meanwhile, in the car, Shailey grew uneasy as two unfamiliar men positioned theraselves on each side of the door.
She had been on a call with her boyfriend, bragging about Shirley Olson being janice’s mentor. At the same time, she had also been texting her friends about it,
But halfway through the call, she quickly hung up the phone “Hold on a sec. Something’s happening here,
She had noticed Simon grab Janice, and it seemed they were locked in conflict,
She locked the car doors and immediately dialed the police. But before she could press the calibutton, Janice’s phone rang Shirley accidentally answered it while fumbling.
Janice, is everything alright?”
Shirley didn’t realize Janice’s phone was in the middle of a call as she talked into her phone, “Is this out? I’m reporting an incident near Oak Lane toll station. A man’s trying to force a Lady into a car in broad daylight.”
Her voice reached Janice’s phone, and Edward overheard. “Stop the car,” he instructed his driver.
The driver slammed the brakes as the Cullinan came to a halt with a sharp screech. Edward stepped out of the car and headed straight across the road.
Calvin frowned. “Isn’t that the woman from earlier today?
Heidi seemed puzzled by the commotion “What’s going on?” she asked.
“The Lady Edward likes is getting picked on,” Calvin explained as he tollowed. The bodyguards flanked him and moved swiftly.
The woman Edward liked? Heidi perked up and hurried after them.
“Sunon, let go!” Janice struggled but failed to free herself from Simon’s grip. With that, she slapped him hard across the face.
