Chapter 79
Janice’s heart skipped a beat
ngo, are you calming down now? Edward asked as he pushed the contract for the tournament entry toward her.
There was no need for him to deliver the contract, yet here he was, bringing it to Janice himself. Her reaction throughout the day made it clear that she wasn’t in a great mood…. And she seemed to carry a certain edge.
“[haven’t misunderstood anything. It’s an honor for us to work as a couple for mutual benefits, and 1 should thank you instead.” Janice chuckled softly.
No matter what Heli–did, she’d hold the same gratitude toward Edward.
He looked at her and asked, “Shall I treat you to a meal?” she didn’t seem happy, and he figured a meal might help.
Janice replied, “I’ll treat you instead, Mr. Moore.”
Prop the formalities.”
Jankesmiled. “Alright! Thanks, Edward,”
Edward’s expression softened as he headed out. He was aware of anke’s decision to stop Heldi from joining Prosper Stitch Group, but he chose to act as though he knew nothing
After leaving the office, Edward opted to take the Cullinan. “Let’s take this one.
Janice had no reason to reuse. It was his car, after all
On their way to the restaurant, Janice noticed a text from Shirley stating that Simon’s bank account had been permanently frozen. The prosecution was now investigating the source of his funds, and they suspected him of making legal profits through bank accounts.
Simon was in trouble. This was Janice’s first reaction to the news.
Her second reaction was confusion. Wasn’t the prosecution going to re–investigate? What was going on now?
At the restaurant, Edward said, “I need to take a call.”
“Go ahead.” Janice watched as Edward left and slowly looked away.
“What’s up, Mom?” Edward asked as he answered the call
Barbara’s voice came through the line. “Where are you?”
“Just left the office”
past couple of years, but she’s a quick
“Edward, I need to talk to you about something. Heldi. You probably don’t know much about her since you haven’t been in contact these p leamer Why not give her a chance?”
Since Heidi had requested to keep her identity a secret, Barbara avoided revealing too much and hinted subtly to Edward.
Edward frowned and immediately guessed that Heldi must’ve brought the matter to Barbara. “Mom.”
Detecting the cool tone in his voice, Barbara waited allently for him to continue.
“Since I started my business with Matilda, I’ve never obtained help from home. I’m not concerned about so–called Lavors, and if Heidi doesn’t meet the standards, no one’s opinion can change that ”
