Chapter
What kind of renowned expert was this?
“Hello”
“Mr. Fitzgerald, the company’s current available funds aren’t enough to pay the seamstresses‘ wages the day after tomorrow,” the accountant called to Inform him. “What should
Simon frowned deeply. “I see. I’ll handle it.”
Janice had been keeping a close watch on any activity regarding that villa, and she technd a phone call that evening.
She had just finished her bath and was lying down. “He’s planning to mortgage that villa??*
He was going to use her half of the villa to raise money?
Janice combed through her damp hair and said, “Do me a favor. However much he needs, cover it.“”
would be a private mortgage,
“Understood, Ms. Smith.”
Janice gazed out at the dark night sky, ach seeping into her heart.
Autumn was already a third of the way through.
Over the past three months, she had gradually let go of her lingering affection for Simon All that remained was resentment. All he wanted was money, right?
Two days later, Simon narrowly managed to pay all the seamstresses their wages, and he finallybreathed a sigh of relief
The villa was mortgaged, but the debt would have to be repaid.
Lately, he had been keeping an eye on the seamstresses at the branch office Stepping out of his office, he announced, “Everyone will need to work overtime for the next week.”
The seamstresses erupted in protest, and some began to grumble.
“Melody & Loops Creations doesn’t even require overtime. When they do, the pay is far better than ours. Our overtime pay isn’t even as much as what a walter earns by the hour at a local diner.”
“Exactly,” another chimed in “Mr. Fitzgerald, please don’t push us so hard. We just can’t keep this up.”
Simon frowned, battled. “The previous seamstresses worked overtime without complaining about the pay. Why can’t you do the same?
Some retorted bluntly, “We’re not them. They could work overtime without fussing about pay because they’d been here for years and had a good relationship with management. But we’ve only been here for two months, Mr. Fitzgerald. You’re treating us like slaves! Either way, I won’t do it anymore. Whoever wants to stay late can, but it won’t be me.
These seamstresses had all come from Solterra and stuck together in solidarity.
When one refused overtime, the rest immediately followed suit, insisting on leaving on time.
Furious, Simon retreated to his other and unleashed his anger. Alex stood nervously to the side, terrified of getting dragged into the mess.
