Chapter 54 

Everyone gave Niamh a strange look. In the past, whenever Castiel worked late, she would have Tilda prepare a late–night snack and deliver it to him personally. 

Therefore, in everyone’s eyes, Niamh had always seemed like a very gentle 

person. But now… 

In the office, Castiel, visibly irritated, yanked at his tie. He then sat across from Niamh and took a large gulp of water. 

He put the glass down a bit too forcefully and said, “Move back to Maplewood. That’s your home.” 

“I’m fine staying at Billie’s,” Niamh replied. 

“With two people in a tiny apartment of just 750 square feet? Are you really used to it?” Castiel asked, his tone growing colder. 

Niamh looked at him, her eyes lacking any warmth. 

Billie’s apartment was indeed small, with only about 750 square feet, including two bedrooms and a living room. It was clear that someone accustomed to a larger house would find it cramped. 

Niamh closed her eyes and said, “Yes, you’ve given me a very good life over the years. Everything I eat, wear, and live in has been the best.” 

Castiel stayed silent. 

“Even so, even if I have to shower in a tiny space, change clothes in the bedroom, and have breakfast with just biscuits and gravy, I still feel comfortable.” 

“You- 

“Yes, everything in your world is the best, but did you ever ask me if I’m truly comfortable? Am I truly happy with you?” 

Castiel was at a loss for words. 

“Or do you think that even if you took my corneas for some woman, I wouldn’t be hurt? Am I just your pet?” 

Niamh eventually shouted that only pets have no feelings, leaving Castiel stunned. Looking at Niamh, this was the first time she spoke about their years together. 

Without waiting for Castiel to respond, Niamh continued, “These three years of marriage have been the worst of my life. Yes, you’ve provided me with material wealth, but being with you, I’ve had to endure cold stares and pressure that I shouldn’t have to face! 

“I’m not your pet, and it’s not enough to just be well–fed and warm. I’ve had enough of being with you. If you’ve made up your mind, just sign the papers quickly to avoid further hassle. 

With that, Niamh stood up, grabbed her bag, and walked out of the office. 

Castiel, furious, snapped, “Is leaving me really what you want?” 

“Yes!” 

“Is it because of that man?” 

“Yes!” 

Castiel didn’t respond, giving off a chilling air. It enveloped Niamh, but she remained unafraid, standing firmly against Castiel. 

Looking at her back, Castiel wanted to say something to persuade her but ended up asking, “If you’re uncomfortable with me, do you think a few thousand dollars outside will make you comfortable?”
