Burned Once, Never Again (Niamh and Castiel) novel Chapter 64

Chapter 64

Castiel gripped Niamh’s wrist tighter

Niamh no longer resisted. Instead, she faced him and said, Tell me. Does that place even mean anything to me now?”

Castiel’s pupils constricted, and then he spoke with unwavering

determination. You know I won’t divorce you.”

What he meant by saying that was, Why bother fearlessly causing trouble when you already know this? From now on, stop your nonsense. Ending your fuss here will be your best option.”

Whenever Castiel hinted at this in the past, Niamh would always stop whatever tantrum she had. However, things were different now

She inhaled deeply before saying, Give me ONE reason why I should stay with a man who wants to give my corneas to another woman?”

Castiel’s breath hitched. Macy was like a trigger between them. Anytime Niamh mentioned Macy, Castiel would blow up with rage

Niamh and Castiel held each other’s gazes. Castiel stared down the stubborn Niamh. Disappointment grew in his gaze as he thought about Greenburg’s public opinions against her

The public used to favor Niamh, but they were now biased toward Macy

Well, are you aware of what people think of you in Greenburg? If you keep this up, you won’t be able to survive here anymore,Castiel voiced

He believed that was especially true without his protection. In fact, Billie would likely be affected by it

Niamh replied, You needn’t worry about it. It doesn’t matter if I can’t stay in Greenburgyou know that.”

She had only lived in Greenburg these past few years because of Castiel. Her only reason for staying here was to wait for her divorce to finalize

Should her divorce attempt succeed, she would have nothing more to do with Greenburg. She could reside anywhere because it made no difference. She could do well even without staying in Greenburg

That said, Niamh wasn’t leaving until they resolved Macy’s matter. She was okay with letting her enemies have whatever they wanted. However, she refused to let them use her as a stepping stone to advance in life

Things turned out as Niamh thought; the online conversations were wilder

than ever

Billie received many parcels for Niamh when she returned home after work. She immediately called her

Niamh answered the call and said without hesitation, Throw them all in the trash! Don’t open them!”

Do the parcels contain those things again?”

Yeah,Niamh replied, her tone a bit nasally. She never imagined her enemies would be so persistent. Even their tactics were relentless, as always

She thought they would lose track of her during her few months abroad. She never thought things would be this bad now that she was facing her enemies again

Niamh took out the documents from the folder Nathan gave her. She projected them onto the screen and held a meeting with her team. That allowed everyone to understand Linden Grove better
