Chapter 73 

Niamh had never really gotten to know Macy. Considering what had happened, an apology was the least she could do. 

The more Castiel thought about it, the angrier he became. 

Before he could speak, Macy interrupted, “However, next time…” 

It seemed she sensed his frustration, so she paused briefly and then added, “Next time, I won’t be so lenient. This time, it’s only because of you.” 

Hearing that, Castiel replied with firm determination, “Don’t worry. There won’t be a next time. Having endured one such event was already too much. He would never allow it to happen again. 

Just as Castiel was about to say more, someone knocked on the door, and 

a doctor and nurse entered. 

The doctor respectfully said to Castiel, “Mr. Jamison, Ms. Duncan’s condition requires her to rest. It’s best to let her have some peace.” 

Castiel hummed in acknowledgment. He then stood up and said to Macy, Don’t worry too much. Just rest well. I’ll take care of everything.” 

His last line was a reassurance to her. 

Upon hearing that, Macy smiled. Her smile was radiant and calming, like the presence of an angel. 

When Castiel and the doctor exited the ward, Lucian promptly followed 

them. 

Castiel asked the doctor, “Are there any potential complications from the 

infection?” 

“It’s inherently dangerous. Surgery needs to be done as soon as possible,” the doctor replied. 

Castiel’s heart sank once more. Macy had been in the emergency room twice, and she looked significantly worse than before.

Every time he spoke with the doctor, it was about the surgery, hoping he could quickly find a living donor so that Macy could undergo the surgery as soon as possible. 

The doctor added, “It’s not that we want to rush you. You’ve been adamant about wanting Ms. Duncan to recover so her wounds can’t be left to heal on their own. If they are left untreated, she may lose any chance of recovery” 

Seeing that Castiel remained silent, he continued, “However, if the wounds. continue to be untreated and infected, there’s a risk of irreversible damage. 

“I see.” Castiel’s expression was grim. 

Lucian, who followed behind them, also felt a growing sense of concern. He had been in charge of the matter and knew just how crucial a live organ donation was for Macy. 

However, no matter how financially strained someone might be, they wouldn’t sell their eyes for cash. Money was of no use if one had lost their sight. 

Castiel was already in a bad mood, and the visit to the hospital only made it worse. Deep down, Niamh and Macy were in stark contrast to each other. 

There was a time when Niamh was just as kind and considerate. However, he never expected that beneath her kind smile, there would be…
