Chapter 0021
His frown deepened, “Tell me what’s going on
She showed him her bleeding arm. “That so–called miracle doctor… she wasn’t trying to cure me. She was trying to kill me!”
“Kill you?” Dylan’s eyes narrowed in thought, recalling the conditions Red Falcon had suggested earlier. “Are you sure there wasn’t some misunderstanding?”
“You don’t believe me?” Anne’s tears fell harder. “The moment I walked in, she started stabbing me with needles and said she needed to drain my blood. When I told her it hurt,
my life!” she didn’t stop! This isn’t detox–she was going to end
Seeing her arm still bleeding, Dylan motioned for her to get in the car. “Wait here. I’m going to check.”
Anne shook her head vehemently. “I’m coming with you. If I’m not there, she’ll never admit to what she’s done.”
After considering for a moment, Dylan nodded, “Fine. Let’s go.”
The two headed back inside Gold Eagle Heights, with Anne leading the way to Suzy’s private room.
Just as they approached the door, it suddenly slammed shut, nearly hitting Anne in the face.
“Mr. Dylan…” Anne’s voice was laced with grievance as she clung to his arm. “Did you hear that? She’s clearly feeling guilty–that’s why she won’t face you.”
“Guilty?” Suzy’s voice, deliberately altered, drifted calmly from inside the room.
“And where, Miss Anne, did you get that idea?”
“You know exactly what you’ve done.” Anne’s words turned into sharp accusations. “I’ve never wronged you, yet you pretended to help detox me when all you wanted was to take my life!”
Take
your life?”
Suzy chuckled softly. “Mr. Wright, are you really here because you believe Miss Anne’s claims?”
Dylan’s furrowed brow deepened as he stepped forward. “Why don’t you open the door and we’ll talk face to face?”
“Did you forget our prior agreement, Mr. Wright?” Suzy’s voice remained steady and unhurried. “Or are we ending the treatment here and now?”
“Mr. Dylan, don’t listen to her,” Anne interjected, clutching his hand tighter. “She never intended to detox me… I don’t want to risk my life just for this poison.”
Chapter 0021
Seeing the tear–streaked face of Anne, Dylan’s expression grew even colder. “You’re the one who’s forgotten, The Harlow matter–seems I won’t need to meddle after all.”
A soft laugh escaped from behind the door as Suzy’s voice turned amused. “Mr. Wright, you really do trust Miss Anne, don’t you? I wonder if you’ll still feel that way after hearing this recording.”
“Recording?” Anne’s face drained of color. “What recording?”
Suzy, standing just behind the door, arms crossed, continued with an eerie calmness.” Why don’t you have a listen?”
Anne swallowed hard, trying to steady herself. “Mr. Dylan… I don’t feel well. My arm hurts. Can you take me to the hospital please?”
“I’ll borrow your own words from earlier,” Suzy said, her voice now soft with a teasing lilt. “Why the rush to leave, Miss Anne? Feeling guilty?”
