Seeing the eager look on Anne’s face, Suzy calmly opened her medical kit and pulled out a syringe. “The treatment consists of four stages Today, we’ll start with the first–an intravenous detox and a blood draw.” 

Anne hadn’t expected her plea to be rejected after saying so much. 

A flicker of malice flashed in her eyes, but outwardly, she kept up her pitiful demeanor. 

“Miracle doctor, I understand my request might put you in a difficult position, but I’m truly desperate, which is why I’m asking for your help. He and I love each other sincerely, but because of our difference in status, his grandmother has never accepted me. 

“Without her approval, we’ll never be together. I’m not asking for a title, just the chance to be his woman. Please, help me this once.” 

Suzy almost laughed out loud. Was she really listening to the mistress begging for a chance to sleep with her ex–husband? 

Now she’d seen everything. 

If it had been anyone else, maybe she would’ve helped. But for Anne… 

Her lips curled into a smirk. “Miss Anne, I’m on a tight schedule.” 

Anne’s gaze turned cold, inch by inch. “Miracle doctor, are you really unwilling to help with this small favor?” 

“I’m skilled at treating illnesses…” Suzy twirled one of the syringes between her fingers. ” But lying isn’t in my repertoire.” 

“It’s just a harmless lie,” Anne protested. 

“A harmless lie…” Suzy couldn’t hold back a laugh. “You know his grandmother disapproves, yet you persist in this affair. How is that harmless when it sows discord between them?” 

“You!” Anne clenched her fists, barely containing her temper. 

With great effort, she forced herself to calm down. 

‘Maybe you’ve never loved anyone, Miracle doctor. If you had, you’d understand what it’s like to want to give the best of yourself to the person you love. We might not have a future, but I want to give him the best of me, while I still can.” 

The best of herself… the best years of her life… to the man she loved… 

Suzy couldn’t help but chuckle, not at Anne, but at her former self.

Suzy glanced at her, pushing the needle in a little deeper. “If you don’t want your arm permanently damaged, I suggest you stay still, Miss Anne.” 

Anne gritted her teeth, her brows furrowing deeply. “I came to you for help, and this is how you repay me? If you won’t take the chance, don’t blame me for what happens next.” 

With those words, she gathered all her strength and shoved Suzy, then immediately ran toward the door, screaming at the top of her lungs, “Help! Help!”
