Chapter 0282
“The last thing I said?” Diana thought back carefully. “I was just wondering what the owner of that hawk–shaped pendant looks like
Suzy froze. So, the savior Dylan was searching for… was her?
After hanging up, Suzy couldn’t calm the storm in her heart.
Three years ago, they had both been drugged and unknowingly became each other’s cure.
The pendant wasn’t lost–It had been deliberately left behind for Dylan.
She had always hated owing people anything, and after Dylan saved her by neutralizing the drug in her system, she left the pendant as repayment. It was the only thing she had on her at the time.
That pendant was special. Her grandfather had hand–carved it for her when she was born, a rare occurrence in the Frost family, where boys far outnumbered girls. Her birth had been a momentous occasion for the family.
She had assumed that leaving the pendant would settle the debt between them. But over time, as she read more about Dylan in the news, she found herself unable to let go.
For the first time in her life, she had fallen for aman and she fell hard. So hard that she had even been willing to devote herself to him.
After their marriage, she tried to get the pendant back but couldn’t find it anywhere. She now knew why. It was because he never had the pendant. Anne had taken it for herself.
So be it.
She didn’t need it anymore.
It had taken so much to finally draw a line between her and Dylan. If she tried to retrieve the pendant now, it would only give him a reason to entangle himself with her again.
Better to act as though she’d never heard about it at all.
At Wright Corporation’s CEO’s office.
It had been several days since the announcement went out, and while many people had come forward to claim the reward, none of them had been credible.
“Sir, this can’t go on,” Desmond said, clearly exasperated. “My phone hasn’t stopped. ringing for days–it’s practically been going 24/7. I wouldn’t mind the hassle if the leads were solid, but all I’ve been hearing is complete nonsense. It’s giving me a headache!”
Dylan frowned. “Cancel it.”
+25 BONUS
The bounty had served a secondary purpose: to draw the person in question out of hiding.
Days had passed. That woman must have seen the announcement, yet there had been no sign of them.
It was almost certain she didn’t want to be involved with him. It wasn’t that she couldn’t find him—it was a choice. Of course, there was another possibility that she might be dead.
After all, three years was a long time. Anything could have happened.
Dylan couldn’t deny that fragments of that night lingered in his memory–like the faint, soothing scent of botanical oils on her.
Botanical oils…
It reminded him of Suzy. She worked in holistic health and always carried that subtle, natural fragrance of natural remedies.
No. It couldn’t be her.
If it had been Suzy, why hadn’t she mentioned it once in the past three years? Even when he misjudged her and accused her of having ulterior motives, she never said a single word.
Forget it. If she didn’t want to be found, so be it
His reasons for finding her weren’t just to repay a debt. He had hoped she might help him uncover who had targeted him that night.
Just as he was lost in thought, his phone rang. It was the butler from the Wright family’s main estate.
