Chapter 0342
Chapter 0342
Just as Suzy thought she was facing certain death, the masked man appeared, striding toward her. Without a second thought, he rushed forward and pulled her into his arms, shielding her with his broad frame.
The previous fire and now this explosion–she owed him her life twice over.
This time, the explosions came in rapid succession, leaving barely any intervals in between. The man held her tightly, shielding her from the brink of death and carrying her to safety.
His body was covered in blood, a clear indication of his severe injuries. Suzy, on the other hand, aside from an injury to her left leg, was largely unscathed.
Once they reached a secure spot, he set her down and carefully examined her, his voice filled with concern as he asked, “Are you hurt?”
Looking at the man, bloodied and battered, Suzy felt an unexpected pang of emotion.
“I’m fine.”
After a moment’s hesitation, she asked, somewhat awkwardly, “What about you? How bad are your injuries?”
Despite everything, she felt it only right to ask after all, he was injured saving her.
“Are you worried about me?” he teased, a hint of joy evident in his voice.
“…Looks like you’re not dying anytime soon,” she shot back, her tone edged with exasperation. “Still plenty of energy to run that mouth of yours.”
Even so, she reached out to take his wrist, intending to check his pulse. But the moment her fingers brushed against him, he pulled away. “I saw your team near the main entrance earlier. Contact them and have them take you back.”
“And you?” The words left her mouth almost instinctively.
“I have other matters to attend to.”
With that, he stood and began to walk away.
As he turned, Suzy caught a glimpse of his back–his injuries were severe, the wounds so deep they nearly exposed bone.
“Wait!” Suzy called out, her voice firm.
The man stopped and turned back, his calm demeanor unchanged. “What is it?”
“Your injuries-” she began, but he interrupted her before she could finish.

“They’re just superficial wounds, nothing serious. Don’t worry about it,” he said, brushing it off.
“Who’s worried about you?” Suzy snapped. “I’m just afraid you’ll drop dead on the way and there’ll be no one to take care of your corpse.”
The man chuckled softly. “Relax, I’m not dying anytime soon. I wouldn’t let you become a widow so quickly.”
Suzy’s eyes twitched at his cheeky remark. With a sharp tongue like his, it was clear he wasn’t anywhere near death’s door. If he wanted to leave, she wasn’t about to stop him.
Seeing her remain silent, the man turned and started walking again.
However, after only a few steps, he stumbled, his tall frame nearly collapsing to the ground.
Suzy, forgetting her own injured leg, scrambled to her feet and rushed to his side, barely managing to catch him. “This is what you call ‘nothing serious‘?”
