Chapter 0449
Chapter 0449
Suzy flipped through the pages, her breathing growing more unsteady with every entry she
read.
The journal detailed, with chilling precision, how her father had been hidden away by Charlotte all those years ago.
It turned out that not only had her mother survived, but her father was also still alive. And for all these years, he had been kept under Charlotte’s control.
It now made sense why Charlotte had refused to reveal her accomplice on her deathbed, adamantly denying that Claude had been involved. She must have feared that Claude would expose the truth that Suzy’s father was still alive.
While the journal explained how Charlotte had hidden her father, it didn’t include the most crucial detail–his current location.
Suzy read through the entire notebook, but it offered no clues about where her father was being kept.
With both Charlotte and Claude now gone, finding her father would be no easy task.
Still, no matter how difficult it was, Suzy was determined not to give up.
When she returned to Hillside Villa, Suzy found Dylan sitting on the couch in the living
room.
“I told you to stay in bed. Why are you downstairs?”
With his injuries as severe as they were, Dylan needed strict bed rest. Yet here he was, blatantly ignoring her instructions. Suzy couldn’t help but feel frustrated.
Seeing her anger, Dylan spoke softly, “I didn’t come down on my own.”
“There’s only Madam Zoe here, and she’s too old to help you down the stairs…”
“It was me.”
Victor’s voice came from the kitchen. “I carried him down. He didn’t exert himself at all.”
Suzy’s anger lessened slightly, but she still said. “Even so, he shouldn’t be moving around
Victor interrupted her. “I told him that, but he wouldn’t listen. He said you went out in the middle of the night, and he was worried about you.
“If I hadn’t stopped him, he’d have dragged himself out there on crutches to find you! Honestly, Suzy, next time you head out, at least let him know beforehand so he doesn’t

work himself into a frenzy worrying.”
In the past, Suzy would have scoffed and said, “Who does he think he is? Do I need to justify my every move to him?”
But now…
Her tone was softer than it had ever been. “I thought you were asleep when I left.”
Victor raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised. “Well, well… is this the start of a reunion for you two?”
Before Suzy could respond, Dylan cut in, his face expressionless as he looked at Victor. You should go.”

“What do you mean, ‘go‘?” Victor huffed indignantly. “You called me in the middle of the night and told me to get here as fast as possible–I thought something serious had happened. Turns out, you just needed me to carry you downstairs.
