Evangeline’s crimson lips moved faintly. “His name is…” 

Before she could finish, her phone rang abruptly, breaking the moment. 

The sudden ringtone snapped Evangeline out of her daze. Suzy quickly stepped back, pretending as if nothing had happened. 

When Evangeline came out of her hypnotic state, she had no memory of what had just occurred. Without even glancing at Suzy, she picked up her phone. 

Whoever was on the other end caused her composure to falter almost immediately. “How is that possible?” Evangeline exclaimed, her tone laced with disbelief. 

Realizing she wasn’t alone, she turned to Suzy ‘Leave.” 

“Yes, Mistress.” 

“Quite the guarded one,” Suzy thought as she left. 

However… 

Once outside, she discreetly checked her phone. She had managed to plant a bug behind the door before entering the room. Unfortunately, by the time she accessed it, the call had already ended. 

Suzy was speechless and thought she had wasted her time. 

She had interacted with Evangeline several times before, and one thing was clear–she was a person who rarely showed any emotional fluctuation. Whatever was on that call had been significant enough to shake her. 

Modern phones typically had call recording functions, so Suzy decided to hack into Evangeline’s phone to see if there was a recording of the conversation. 

As the leader of a nation, Evangeline’s phone was heavily secured, with multiple layers of firewalls. Fortunately, Suzy’s hacking skills were exceptional, or she wouldn’t have stood a 

chance. 

After digging through the phone, she found no recordings. Whoever had called and whatever they had said would remain a mystery for now. 

With her objective still unmet, Suzy knew she couldn’t leave empty–handed. However, she had clearly drawn Evangeline’s suspicion, making the next steps even more challenging. 

At the hotel. 

Dylan, ever aware of Suzy’s movements, had kept tabs on her the entire time. He had

stationed secret guards to follow her discreetly and had also summoned Allen. 

“Where did Suzy go?” Dylan asked directly, his tone as straightforward as ever. 

“It’s so late, of course, she’s in her room sleeping,” Allen stammered nervously. “After all, it’s been a long day. No matter how capable my boss is, she’s not made of steel…“. 

“She went out,” Dylan interrupted, fixing Allen with a sharp gaze that made it clear he wasn’t buying the excuse. 

Allen sighed in surrender. “Fine. She went to see Evangeline. Riley was kidnapped by that lunatic woman, who’s demanding the boss kill Evangeline. 

“We all know how that woman operates. She could easily kill Evangeline herself, but instead, she’s using every trick in the book to force Boss to do it. That’s why Boss thinks there must be some kind of connection between her and Evangeline. Otherwise, there’s no reason for that woman to go to such lengths. 

“Plus, Boss said Evangeline and her late mother bear at least a seventy percent resemblance.”
