“Allen, get them both out of here. From now on, they’re not allowed inside,” she ordered sharply.

No one knew Suzy better than he did, and he was certain Elliot didn’t stand a chance. 

Persisting in this fruitless pursuit would not only waste everyone’s time but also leave Elliot devastated when it inevitably failed. It was for the boy’s own good that Allen urged him to let go sooner rather than later.
