“Think of it as being like good friends, getting along peacefully. If you two can manage that, the boss won’t feel so irritated dealing with you both!” Allen’s gaze shifted between the two men. 

“Put yourselves in her shoes–if your life were filled with constant bickering and fighting, wouldn’t you get annoyed too?” 

He paused before continuing, “Think about what I’ve said. If you agree, then start doing as I suggested. The truth is, the boss doesn’t have the headspace for romantic drama right now. Her mind is entirely focused on finding her father. So, until that happens, I suggest you both keep your feelings and declarations of love to yourselves. 

Dylan and Elliot exchanged a glance, then nodded in agreement. 

“Fine,” Dylan said. 

“Alright,” Elliot echoed. 

“Good,” Allen replied. “Now, since you both agreed, don’t just say it–follow through. Otherwise, I’ll enforce the boss‘ orders and ban both of you from stepping foot here.” 

Allen couldn’t help but feel a bit smug. Technically, both of these men were his rivals, considering his own past feelings for Suzy. Yet here he was, advising them on how to win her over. A man as generous as him? Truly one of a kind. 

The two men nodded in unison and said together, “We’ll do it.” 

“Great. For now, go home and give it a couple of days. By then, the boss will have cooled off, and I’ll have a better chance to put in a good word for you both.” 

Given the circumstances, neither had much choice but to follow Allen’s advice. 

Once they left, Allen returned to Suży to report. “Boss, they shouldn’t bother you again for a while.” 

Seeing the mischievous grin on his face, Suzy could guess he wasn’t entirely up to any good, but she didn’t press him. Instead, she said, “Keep up the act with George. There’s still a chance we might get something useful out of him.” 

Allen nodded. “Got it. I’ll handle it. It’s late–get some rest.” 

Allen was about to leave when Suzy called after him. “Do you think it’s possible…

“You mean…” Allen paused, piecing it together. “You think Charlotte hypnotized him, erased his memories of you, and maybe even planted some dangerous ideas in his mind? Is that why he’s avoiding you?” 

The more he spoke, the more plausible it seemed. “If that’s true, finding him would be even harder.”
