Chapter 0069
Everyone present assumed the worst for Anne, including Dylan, who ultimately couldn’t stand by idly. He lunged forward, reaching out to catch her, but he was a moment too late.
From the 88th floor, her fate seemed certain–until, three floors down, a high–rise window washer with impressive reflexes managed to catch her mid–fall. Though Anne survived with only a scare, her left arm was badly injured.
Helena insisted on taking her to the hospital, but Anne refused stubbornly. “Mom, I’m no going. This injury isn’t fatal.”
Slap!
Helena struck her across the face. “You’re willing to give up everything, even your family, for a man who doesn’t care about you?”
Tears streaming down her face, Anne nodded. “Yes, everything. I don’t even care about myself anymore. Mom, without him, I have no reason to live.”
Helena, shaken, held her daughter for a moment before turning to kneel before Dylan. Mr. Wright, please come with me. If you think I’m lying, ask Lillian yourself.”
Dylan’s dark gaze shifted between mother and daughter, his expression unreadable. Finally, he said to Anne, “I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Diana was speechless. “He fell for their lies… again?”

At the Harlow estate, in Suzy’s room.
Suzy munched on a bag of chips, watching the surveillance footage sent by her hired tracker following Anne. As she watched, entirely unbothered, Allen’s brow furrowed. ” Anne’s out there, bouncing back from her ordeal, and you have no reaction?”
Suzy took a swig of soda and then let out a small burp. “How’s that for a reaction?”
Allen gave her a disbelieving look. “You’re supposed to be a lady a stunning one, at that. Could you at least try not to be… crude?”
“Fine,” he thought. “She might look like a lady, but with her toughness, she’s more like one of the guys. I have to lower my expectations.”
Allen pulled up a chair and sat across from Suzy. “So, what’s the plan?”
“Easy–I’m having spicy snacks,” she replied, tearing open a fresh bag of spicy strips. Here, try this flavor. It’s actually decent.”
Allen raised an eyebrow. “I meant what’s the plan for Anne passing the blame?”

He eyed her snack skeptically and thought, “Wasn’t she a miracle doctor? Should she really be indulging in junk food like this?”
Then again, Suzy made her own medicines; additives probably didn’t faze her.
Munching away, Suzy looked at him with a smirk. “It’s not like she pinned anything on me.”
“But Dylan and Anne are back together.”
She shrugged. “So?”
