"Jump, and I’ll let her go…"
That sentence echoed in Suzy’s mind over and over.
The man sneered when Suzy remained frozen.
"What’s the matter? Didn’t you say Diana is like a sister to you? Turns out it’s all talk. When it comes down to it, you’re not willing to sacrifice your life for hers.
"Suzy, don’t act so high and mighty. If you can’t do it, stop pretending you’re some kind of hero."
Suzy knew his words were a deliberate provocation. It was a ploy to get under her skin, so she met his sneer with a cold smile.
"If you want my life, you can have it. But first, I want the person behind you to show themselves."
"You want to meet the one pulling the strings?" The man raised an eyebrow, his tone dripping with contempt. "Too bad, you’re not worthy."
Suzy’s smile deepened. "So, you admit there is someone behind you."
Realizing she had baited him into revealing more than he intended, the man’s expression darkened.
"Enough of your games, Suzy! Quit stalling. If you don’t jump, Diana’s dead today!"
"I already told you—if you want my life, bring out your boss," Suzy replied coolly. Despite the dire situation, she decided to gamble.
Sometimes, a weakness could be a double-edged sword.
The man knew how much she cared for Diana, which was why he was using her as leverage.
But he also understood that if Diana were truly harmed, his ability to manipulate Suzy would disappear entirely.
This was a psychological battle, one that only someone adept at reading others would dare to engage in.
Seeing Suzy’s unwavering composure, the man’s brows furrowed sharply. "Do you think I won’t dare to hurt Diana? Fine, I’ll show you just how far I’m willing to go!"
