Seeing Suzy looking at her with admiration, Evangeline finally decided to explain.
"It’s actually pretty simple. Dad’s mind has been affected by years of medication. He’s not thinking rationally anymore. So, treating him like a rational person won’t work.
“He’s obsessed with finding Charlotte, right?
“Telling him she was an imposter or that she’s dead won’t get through to him. He’ll just think you’re lying and keeping her away from him on purpose.
“Instead, you need to make him believe that you had nothing to do with her disappearance—that someone else was responsible.
“That way, not only will it ease the tension between you two, but it’ll also keep him from spiraling into a breakdown."
Suzy nodded, impressed. "Noted!"
It was such a simple solution, yet it had never crossed her mind.
Not because she wasn’t capable of figuring it out, but because she never truly took the time to approach the situation differently.
She claimed she cared about her father, but how much effort had she actually put into helping him?
After that night, Timothy’s mood improved significantly.
He still talked about Charlotte constantly, but at least he wasn’t as agitated, especially around Evangeline.
Every time he saw her, his first question was always, "Did you find Charlotte?"
And every time, Evangeline smoothly reassured him, keeping his emotions in check.
With her father finally stable, Suzy could turn her focus to something far more pressing—finding the enemy lurking in the shadows.
She still hadn’t told Simon or Evangeline the truth.
And when she finally received an anonymous call requesting a meeting, she kept it to herself.
"Simon, Evangeline, I need to step out for a bit. Dylan and Dad are in your hands."
