She drove aimlessly, just following the road, unsure of where she was actually going.
It had been over two hours, and still, there was no call from the other side.
As always, they only ever contacted her.
She had no way of reaching them.
The number they used was heavily encrypted.
She tried tracing it before, but every time she called back, no one answered.
The next time they contacted her, it was always from a different number.
Just as she was starting to feel impatient, her phone rang.
This time, it wasn’t them—it was Simon.
"I thought you were just grabbing a few things. It’s been over two hours. Why aren’t you back yet?"
"Women take longer when they shop, you know that," Suzy joked, keeping her tone light as she continued driving.
"Come on, Simon, it’s rare for me to have free time. Let me enjoy it a little. I’ll come back when I’m done."
Simon caught the faint noise of the road in the background. "Are you driving?"
"Yeah, finished one store, heading to another. You wouldn’t believe how much variety they have here in Xandria—way more than back home. I figured I might as well stock up while I can."
Simon didn’t suspect anything. "Alright, take your time. You haven’t had much of a chance to relax lately—use this time to unwind. Just be careful, okay?"
"I know, I know!" Suzy chuckled.
"Simon, do I ever stop being a kid in your eyes?"
"Of course not," Simon said without hesitation.
"No matter how old you get, you’ll always be that little girl who used to cry in my arms."
