Hailey was sure she was halfway through her ride to a place she thought she was never going to set her foot in again when her phone buzzed in her bag. She wanted to ignore it since she was driving but with everything going on, her anxiety was starting to get the most of her. 

Hailes was in a se space so she pulled over to the side of the road. She reached for her handbag which was on the floor in the front passenger’s seat, opened it and took out her phone. 

She saw that it was a strange number but she picked up regardless, putting the phone on speaker.

“I understand you are angry Hailey but I want you to be calm. Vanessa is evil and all this is a well–planned plot. She does silly things to push you against the wall and when you react, she strikes back at you by making you look like the bad guy. That’s why Cole got arrested.” 

Hailey shook her head even though Jessica couldn’t see her. “Her manipulative tricks won’t work on me because I am going to put her in he place.

Vanessa and Connie were seated side by side on the couch in the main living room. They had big smiles on their faces with their eyes glued to the screen as they watched the policemen taking Cole into their car. 

Vanessa chuckled, taking another scoop from the big bowl of her ice cream, something she’d been craving so badly recently. 

“I didn’t think your plan would work so perfectly.” Connie praised her daughter. 

Vanessa shrugged, smiling even more. “I go the extra mile to get what I want.”

“I love Cole. I really do. But I think it’s time he is taught a lesson.” 

“If I can’t have him then I promise you that no one else can.” 

“Smart moves, baby. I didn’t know the plan was going to work that well. Plus Cole is a public figure. I never thought the law enforcers would be so strict on him.” 

“No one is above the law, mama. Plus I made everything look so real. I went to the police crying my eyes out, explaining the situation. I made them know that Cole is a very violent man. The CCTV was functioning that day so I got footage of him choking me to death. I also tendered my pregnancy results to prove that I was pregnant when he harmed me so he literally tried to murder two lives.” 

“It’s a crime to beat up a woman. And it is even a bigger crime to lay a finger on a pregnant woman. I also told them of how unsupportive he has been since I found out I was pregnant. And I might have told more lies too.” She smirked, taking another Scoop of her ice cream. 

“You make smart moves all the time.” 

“Of course I do. Cole thinks he can play with me and my feelings but I am going to prove him wrong. He is going to stay in jail for a very long time unless he is willing to do as I say.” 

“Which is?” Connie asked her daughter.

“He is going to stay in jail forever unless I withdraw the case. And I am not going to withdraw without these conditions. 

“If I can’t have Cole Matthis, then no one else can have him. Especially that witch called Hailey.” 

“It’s either Cole accepts my terms or he gets ready to spend the rest of his life in jail.” 

“No. No one would want to stay in jail. Not even for an extra second. I am sure he is going to reach out to you soon, begging for your forgiveness.“. 

Vanessa smiled. 

After what felt like forever, Hailey pulled up in the Summers‘ her 

parked her car directly in front of the house and ansion. She p 

turned off the engine. 

Staring at her reflection through the front mirror, Hailey began to take off her wristwatch, bracelets, and knuckle rings. She kept them aside and went ahead to put her hair up in a low ponytail. She took off her necklace and her earrings also, keeping them safe in the car. 

Taking one last glance at the mirror, Hailey helped herself down from the car. Today was one of the few days Hailey decided to wear corporate pants to work and she was grateful for her decision to do so. 

Lucy, the assistant chef who recognized Hailey ran towards her to extend her greetings. 

“Hi, Madam. It’s good to see your face again.” 

Hailey replied with a forced smile. She was really not in the mood for any friendly conversations but she didn’t want to be rude to Lucy. 

“It’s good to see you too, Lucy. Is Vanessa home by chance?”
