Chapter 135
Kaia's POV
Since the attack, I'd focused more on taking care of the children with the girls and also picking out the designs I wanted for the new home we were building. Kieran said he had it in mind to build a home when he found his mate and there was no better time to do that than now when we were expecting our first child.
The girls have also been a great help, taking my mind off everything for a few hours. Katherine was still around but she wasn't staying in the Pack house. And Kieran made sure she was avoiding me as much as possible. Even Dylan wasn't left behind.
Although they assured me it was nothing, I could tell something else was going but it was probably in my best interest to not know.
“I think it's time Caleb and I take having our own pup seriously." Dani said, “you're glowing and I want that for myself too." She cooed.
“Do you think it's a bad idea if Ryder and I start trying?" Allie asked and two pairs of eyes snapped to her. The relationship between the two of them had progressed significantly and it was beautiful to see.
“I totally see it, the three of us with our protruding belly, relaxing on a beach somewhere." Dani said, successfully filling my head with images.
Lylah snorted, “I'm certain we'll be holding our pups in our arms before they even conceive."
“Pup…I mentally corrected."
I was going back to the hospital just as the doctor said to determine the sex of the baby. My stomach was slowly showing already, so I resorted to wearing clothes that didn't hug my body tightly.
“Ryder would definitely agree.” I told her, “but make sure you run far away from anywhere your brother can sense it." I added and she snorted.
Now, it was her who wasn't ready to tell Kieran. She kept saying she would tell him after this whole thing died down.
We spent the next few hours talking and planning how the baby room was going to look by the time they were done with it and I was anxiously waiting to see it. The reason we could talk freely was because since the attack, Nessa hasn't shown up, she claims she was ‘shaken up’ by the event and we easily let her be. Kieran has plans for her during the Luna ceremony. So, in about a week…if nothing happens, we would have one less problem to deal with.
I decided to take a walk when I grew tired of sitting in one spot.
As I went towards where our new house would be, I ran into some pack members, who greeted me, some of them even congratulating me. My smell was gradually becoming a mixture of the pup I was carrying and it was a matter of time before I'm unable to hide the bump.
“Kaia darling!" I heard an oddly familiar voice call and even without turning back, I let out a groan as her smell filled my nostrils.
"Keep walking, we can just pretend we didn't hear her.” Lylah suggested and I did just that but Luna Clarissa wasn't giving up as she literally sprinted towards me, offering me the biggest smile I've ever seen on her…not that she smiled at me before.
“I came as soon as I heard the news," her hand moved to touch my stomach and I took a few steps back. Her smile faltered a bit but it was back on immediately.
“You're fulfilling my biggest wish of becoming a grandmother." She pretended to wipe a tear from her eyes and I fought back the urge to roll my eyes.
The least she could do was make her acting believable.
“I can see her failing in acting class.” Lylah said, rolling her eyes.
She went on talking about how Kieran was the cutest when he was a baby and she had no doubt our child was going to take after him.
It was boring listening to her talk so I kept walking but with each step, she was immediately beside me.
“Is there something you want to tell me, Luna? It's just the both of us here, you don't have to pretend to like me.” I found myself saying and the way her jaw dropped had to be the most satisfying thing I've seen today.
