Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1271

The persona Ian was impersonating was not a prominent figure within the villa, his daily duties were simply menial tasks.

However, this man was no weakling, or he wouldn't have been chosen.

He went to the kitchen to fetch the meal that the chef had prepared, and quietly walked up to the door.

The bodyguard opened the door, "What are you waiting for? Get in there!"

The room was dark, only lit faintly by the hallway light, revealing a woman sitting by the window.

Ian's grip on the meal tray tightened, an overwhelming urge to demolish the entire villa bubbling within him.

"Hold on."

One of the guards squinted at his retreating figure, his eyebrows knitting together.

"Clown, did you grow taller?"

Ian remained silent, the other bodyguard rolling his eyes, "You must be seeing things from staying up all night on guard duty."

Ian didn't pay them any mind, striding into the room and shutting the door behind him.

With the door closed, the room plunged into total darkness.

He flicked the light switch on, finally laying eyes on Maja sitting by the window.

He slowly approached, placing the meal tray on the table next to her.

Maja heard his footsteps but remained silent.

As he drew nearer, she furrowed her brows.

She detected a familiar scent, somewhat resembling Ian's.

But she quickly dismissed the thought with a self-deprecating smile. How could Ian possibly be here?

After setting down the meal tray, Ian remained standing quietly by the side.

He should have left immediately, and Maja was waiting for him to do so.

But she didn't hear the sound of him leaving, causing her to furrow her brows.

She wanted to ask him why he hadn't left yet, but her voice failed her, so she resorted to tapping lightly on the table to communicate.

At first, Ian didn't understand the message conveyed by the rhythmic tapping, until he saw Maja raise her head in confusion, looking around.

Despite him standing just six feet away, she first looked behind herself, then to her left. Not knowing his exact location, she started to panic, fearing that someone from the Sanders family had snuck in, or that something had been added to her food.

What would happen this time? Last time, she lost her voice.

She stood up, carefully feeling her way along the wall, trying to locate him.

Upon seeing Maja's frantic search, Ian covered his mouth, his shoulders shaking slightly, disbelief written all over his face.

He watched as she felt her way to the door, carefully deadbolting it, then moving on to the cabinet.
