Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1292

Maja, cradled by Ian, was already lying on the bed. However, she was far from sleepy. All she could feel was a throbbing pain in her head.

"Did Phelps ever tell you why my head hurts so much?"

"You suffered a head injury. There's still some internal bleeding, which causes dizziness from time to time. You need to rest."

Maja finally relaxed in his arms, but within these short moments, her forehead was already covered in sweat.

Ian's hand was gently patting her back, reaching for a poetry book nearby.

"I'll read to you."

His voice was soothing, especially when he was reading poetry.

Maja initially felt wide awake, but his voice lured her into drowsiness.

She felt both sleepy and blissful.

In her hazy state, she heard Mr. K's voice again, just like the conversation she had overheard outside the study that day.

The voice was too close, as if whispering right into her ear.

Maja was instantly filled with fear. When she first woke up, she was told she had been in a coma for a few days and could now speak.

Now, after another nap, how long had she been out this time?

Her body stiffened as she listened to the voice talking beside her, which was discussing how to make her obey.

She felt as if she had been paralyzed, until a hand started to roam her body.

Frightened, her breath became ragged as she desperately tried to avoid the intrusion, but her body felt heavy, too heavy to even lift a finger.

"Let go of me! Let go of me!"

She forcefully knocked away the hand on her, her face pale as she attempted to roll off the bed, but Mr. K's voice came over again.

"Maja, this is the price you pay for disobedience. Who told you to remove that earring? I am very angry now."

"I said before, whether we can cooperate depends on you, but you've disappointed me."

K's tone was as gentle as ever, but he was a master of disguising his true intentions.

Maja felt her body stiffen. She couldn't hear anything clearly anymore, only Mr. K's instructions on how to torment her.

"Get away, get away!"

Sweat was streaming down Maja's forehead, completely oblivious to the fact that she was tightly gripping Ian's wrist.

Her fingernails even dug into his skin, staining it with blood.
