You purposely showed up near Fitch yesterday, didn't you? And then acted like it was a coincidence. How low can you get? I'm taking this dog now, and tonight I'm gonna have a barbecue."

Zoey had never been this furious. Her eyes were icy with rage.

Wendy found her anger amusing. Who was this woman to dare call out her name like that?

She scooped up Ozzy without a second thought and marched right out the door.

Zoey wanted to chase after her, but the pain was too much, and her leg wouldn't straighten. All she could manage was to crawl forward.

A few yards away, Wendy turned to see Zoey dragging herself on the ground and burst into laughter.

"You know, you look just like a dog right now."

Zoey's nails dug into her palms, and she was too choked up to speak.

She didn't have the strength to follow, her whole body ached as she watched Wendy walk away with Ozzy.

Crawling back to her coffee table, she called the property management and then dialed Elvis's number.

But Wendy had Fitch backing her up. If she wanted to do something to a little dog, who could stop her?

Tears streamed down Zoey's cheeks as she grew frantic.

Elvis had no choice but to call Cornelia back in a hurry.

After all, Cornelia had a secret weapon at her disposal – Omar from the Casson family.

Three hours later, Cornelia drove back to Zoey's place, finding her leaning on crutches, her frail figure standing outside the building.

Her leg was in a cast, making her look all the more fragile.

"Zoey?"

"Cornelia, could you come with me to the Haskins' place?"
