As everyone froze in shock, Zoey snatched the teapot from the coffee table and in an instant, scalding hot tea cascaded over Wendy's head.
"Ah! Ahhh!"
Wendy's screams tore through the air as her skin reddened from the burn.
The rest of the Bennitts, seated nearby, were slow to react. After a few seconds, they rose to their feet and charged toward Zoey.
"Have you lost your damn mind, woman?"
With only a cane for support, Zoey stood no chance against them.
Just as she was about to be shoved to the ground, Cornelia stepped forward to steady her.
Omar came to Cornelia's side, silently blocking the advancing Bennitts.
The Bennitts sneered, "Mr. Casson, what's this supposed to mean?"
Omar, looking at Zoey with a calm demeanor, said, "State your purpose."
Zoey's eyes were bloodshot, her palms smeared with blood.
"I want Ozzy back," she rasped, her voice hoarse and broken. Her clothes were drenched, and no one knew what she had endured outside.
To the Haskins and the Bennitts, she might as well have been deranged.
But Zoey ignored their judgments, her gaze fixed on Fitch.
"She took Ozzy from me, I want her to give him back."
Fitch frowned instantly. "Your mutt? Why would Wendy bother stealing that?"
His words diminished Ozzy's worth to nothing.
Zoey was already aware of his disdain, but his words still cut deep.
She thought she was beyond tears, yet now, her whole body ached with the sting of them.
She tried to speak, her lips quivering. Finally, she blinked back tears and feigned composure.
"I have surveillance footage. She came to my place and took Ozzy."
"Enough!"
A sly smile crept across her face; she had anticipated Zoey might go mad over a dog.
When she found out that Ozzy had been adopted by Zoey and Fitch together, jealousy consumed her, prompting her to pay a visit.
After tormenting Zoey, she felt quite pleased with herself.
Now, Wendy had to play her part—look pitiful, look fragile—so everyone would see Zoey as nothing but a lovesick lunatic.
"I didn't take her dog, I swear. I don't know what she's talking about. My face hurts so much, I hope I'm not disfigured."
She covered her face, feigning despair.
The Bennitts were livid, glowering at Zoey.
Zoey had experienced Wendy's vicious tactics before, her fingertips trembling with rage.
She remembered a photo she received just fifteen minutes earlier—a bowl of braised meat, accompanied by a text from Wendy.
[Made this with that useless mutt from your house. Can't wait to serve it up at dinner for everyone to enjoy.]

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
What is wrong that the author has not updated this novel in over a month or is there somewhere else that I can continue reading the novel from chapter 1951 upwards? Do tell, please. Thanks....
