Chapter 551
Maja just hung up with lan when Zoey walked in.
“Ms. Pennyfeather, the big wigs are waiting. They’re wavering over the change in direction for the Pennyfeather group.”
But since the lion’s share of the stocks was held by Maja, she could now call the shots in the company.
The other shareholder in the company was the HR director Zoe, 30 years old, who previously had been a non–entity in the company, just playing it safe by not pissing anyone off as director. His only claim to fame was that he never made the headlines for the wrong reasons, just a smart guy, that’s it.
Maja walked into the boardroom, greeted by a bunch of new faces who all stood up to welcome her, only daring to sit down after she did.
She looked calm and cool, asking everyone, “Have you all reviewed the plans?”
Everyone started looking at each other, and finally someone plucked up the courage to say, “Mr. Pennyfeather, we’ve all seen the plans, but isn’t it a bit risky for the Pennyfeather group to suddenly switch to entertainment business? We’re in the paint business, we know nothing about entertainment.”
“Guys, if I hadn’t found partnership opportunities with Silverstone Enterprises and Elite Edge Consortium, how long do you think the Neilian Group would have lasted?” Maja retorted.
Silence fell over the room. At that time, the Neilian Group had already been bought out by Carlene, who had the nerve to swan around the building. The Neilian Group had gone through a series of upheavals, and it was only in the last couple of days that the list of executives had been finalized.
Maja gave them an answer, “Without me, the Neilian Group wouldn’t have lasted a month. Now I have all the shares, I have full control over this company. I will have Zoey issue a series of tasks, there will be assessments for everyone, and anyone who fails to meet the standards can pack their bags. Also, when I say we’re switching to entertainment, I don’t mean the Neilian Group will completely pivot to entertainment, we still have a lot to learn about this industry. So I’ve made a test investment in a movie, Tyler’s script, within six months, the return on investment should be at least ten times, much faster than what we could get from paint.
“You guys are here because I hired you, and your job is to follow my lead. Your salaries have increased tenfold, at this level, you normally need ten years of working experience to earn this salary, any objections?”
Indeed, the reason why these people were willing to stand by Maja was because she offered irresistible salaries.
“Our business has been hit hard over the last six months, now we can only look for other solutions. When my father was in charge, even though he managed every production line strictly, I still found many problems, like some departments being overstaffed. Take HR for example, they’re only responsible for personnel transfers, they don’t need to participate in product development or overtime. However, due to the company’s culture of overtime, HR has been working overtime for years. In fact, many of them have finished their work by the afternoon. By this logic, we could cut two–thirds of the workforce in HR department.”
After Maja finished speaking, she saw Zoey furrow his brows slightly.
“But, I have no plans to make cuts. I just want those idle employees in each department to be transferred to other positions. Currently, our investment in entertainment is still in a trial phase, I’ve had Zoey register a new company. Any executives who are willing to take charge of the new company’s business can volunteer, and then start recruiting from the various departments. I’ve already named the new company, it’s called Star Movie group.”
Maja’s idea was straightforward. Currently, the newly registered company was not completely independent, salaries needed to be paid from the Neilian Group’s finance department.
However, the business that Star Movie group was responsible for was completely different from the Neilian Group. The Neilian Group would stick to producing paint, but would no longer blindly expand their production lines. Star Movie group would start investing in entertainment, venturing into the entertainment industry to earn profits.
“Guys, even though this is my first time running a company, I understand one thing, when there’s an opportunity to profit, we should grasp it together. If Star Movie group becomes successful in the future, you’ll definitely get a share of the pie.”
Maja’s offer to the executives was generous, her words were not arrogant at all, you could even say they were heartfelt.
Who doesn’t have dreams and ambitions when they’re young? Now everyone was excited by her words.
“Mr. Pennyfeather, where will the office of Star Movie group be located?”

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
